How about it being the rear antenna AND the amplifer to boost the signal, to overcome the loss in the cable to the radio. The amplifer is on the passenger side in the panel just rearward of the back seat door.

There's an antenna amplifier? Really? And this is different than the antenna power (blue wire) in the wiring harness? If so, I can guess that it's just delivering some level of DC power to the amplifier when the radio is on. Is there more information available on this? Is there an aftermarket product that will power it so that I get better reception on AM/FM with my aftermarket head unit?

The other connector is for the "NAV" Antenna.
I didn't see an amplifier in the line for the gen5, in the manual, sorry.....
Brain F*rt, missed the reference to 2003 year.....

Ok, no problem, I guessed maybe it was for the GPS antenna... except that this was plugged into the 6-CD JBL head unit; I don't have the navigation package. So why would this head unit have a receptacle for that plug to plug into?
I dug through the manual, found you have the Diversity receiver. Requires 2 antenna inputs. One antenna is the top section and the other antenna is the bottom section of the rear glass. The basic receiver only uses one antenna, and the rear glass is designed as such, along with the cable / connection.
The NAV receive module, if installed, would be mounted in the trunk, and it's antenna is mounted on the rear deck. I couldn't find any reference to an amplifier in the radio antenna system.

Ah, I see, that makes sense. Thanks so much for sussing that out.
Now, are there adapters to use the diversity antenna with a single antenna tuner / head unit?
Or since the head unit lacks the hardware to match the diversity of the two antennas, just using the one and ignoring the other is the best way to go?

I am not aware of any adapters, one should do just fine, ignore the other.

I have a 2009 SE Camry and just removed the stock stereo (non-JBL) and it has both these (one smaller and one normal) Motorola antenna plugs. Since my car came without any NAV and both these plugs were plugged into the stereo they must do something. Diversity was my fist thought however now using only the larger plug for my after market radio I get really poor Am, the FM is not that great either. There must be some way to get this to work. I've already connected the blue power antenna lead from the stock radio to the blue lead on the Toyota radio harness as instructed however this does not seem to make for better reception. I've read on other forums that the glass antenna's commonly have poor reception but even the stock radio had better reception so there must be some sort of wire to connect to get the proper booster to work. Any suggestions?

I have both on my 07 Camry SE with JBL as well. I used the bigger one for my aftermarket navigation unit and ignored the smaller one. FM reception seems good, but I didn't try AM yet. I was wondering also, why it has 2 plugs.

I figured it out today, YES THERE IS A BOOSTER. The BLUE wire on the Scosche adapter next to the blue looped one needs to be connected to the blue "power antenna" lead that comes out of your after market stereo. In any even YOU MUST power (+) this blue wire as it is made for the glass window antennas. Then my AM and FM got much better. The other smaller Motorola plug as stated in other posts is NOT for speed sensing, rather for diversity tuning radios which Fujitsu or Toyota stock radios use.
