A Shoutout To "Newer" Gen 6 Owners: Has Your Car Been Thru Hell Already?

Was just wondering and thought this would make for an interesting study/discussion, being that I did some more damage to my '08 SE just today ...my 2008 SE V6 in Blue Ribbon Metallic looked drop dead gorgeous when I picked her up in February; since that day, a number of incidents have happened which have made her look like she's been through the war and back -- and that's just with a little over 3K on the clock...I was wondering if any other Gen Six owners in particular (because the vehicles are so new) can relate to this and share their horror stories...

Some incidents were my fault; some not...since delivery in February, I scratched one chromed TRD option rim on a curb accidentally, while another (the driver side front) developed a "pit" in the lip in which an entire section of the rim seems to have been ripped off or is "missing"...I don't know how the hell that happened, but it wasn't me -- I'm suspecting valet parkers (sometimes no choice) or a hand car wash I frequent (can't wash it myself)...if that wasn't bad enough, at less than a year old, I have hard water spots that riddle the entire front end of the vehicle from the sprinkler system of my apartment complex -- and there's no way around this; EVERY parking spot is hit with a sprinker...I considered a bra or cover, but instead had the local wash/detailing place do a hand detail with clay bar and all bells and whistles; they got out most of it -- but there is a section that they claim is already baked under the clear coat and it can't come out....on top of THAT, door dings and dents have been removed already, and another has shown its ugly head under the passenger front door handle with a little nick of damage...then, my fiance walks around to the back of the ride to see damage on the rear bumper's right side, which ended up being compounded out by my dealer and filled in a bit with touch up paint, which looked fine...until my advisor showed me that whoever hit the vehicle to make that damage also left a little "ripple" in the rear bumper that you can't really see unless you're REALLY looking at it -- but I know it's there, and it pisses me off every time I walk past it...

While those damages were piling up on this car with under 4K on the clock, just today we left a business meeting for my personal business and backing up in their lot I misjudged the room I had behind me and nicked the cement post that was there -- it looked like there was no damage until I got home and saw a big scrape mark through the paint on the bottom of the rear skirt near the right quarter panel...SHIT...and so tonight we called up a chick we know that works in a body shop and told her about all the issues and she said they'll look at it and take care of it...I hope...

Anyway, how about all you other Gen 6 owners...any horror stories you can share about damages your babies endured early on in the ownership? Do you feel like this is just "shit that happens" on the road -- taking into consideration the misjudgements and little accidents I/we are responsible for, of course...

Sorry to hear your troubles. I am kind of lucky, but had bad things happen but strangely...the Camry held up very well. Like driving at night through a new pothole twice so deep that it sounded like the entire body frame landed on the street - no visible damage, no new vibration, no visible wheel damage, and even the body kit did not get a scratch (kit is flexible, which really helps!). The worst I had was that I "put the car on a curb" - was leaving a parking lot, which had a very narrow exit and the curb was very high left and right of it. I did not see that the exit was so narrow and run down the curb. The car bounced and the frame crashed on the curb leaving the car up on the curb with the back wheels and on the street with the front wheels. I went to Toyota and had them inspect the underbody - again, no visible damage, body kit is fine, and the shop could not find anything either. So, so far I can say the Camry is built pretty strong. Only complaint - even little rocks appear to chip off the paint all the way down to the metal...have 4800miles now.

Ouch I hear ya guys. When I bought my 09 camry SE, the 2nd day after I got it from the dealer, some moron decides to reend me (he wanted to press brake but accidently pressed accelerate) but because he pressed it quite hard when he rammed into me, he hit my bumper so hard that the bumper bent into my back wheel so I wasn't able to drive it even back to the dealer (insurance definetly raped him tho ). Didn't have my camry for the next week and a half, can't believe..on the 2nd day I got the car too =(

Yeah I recently got a nice little dent/chip on the front bumper because I pulled up in a parking spot too fast and there was a little metal thing sticking out of the ground in the grass right above the spot...

Any ideas on how to fix it the best way? I can take a closeup pic.

Oh, and I've had my Camry since May 2006.

I got lots of rock chips on the front bumper, 2 on the hood, 1 on the right side mirror, 3 on the front windshield, and 1 on the roof... The paint coating is a joke...

I made it about a year w/o anything happening to my Camry. But in the past 12 months, I have had to have body work done to the passenger side after someone hit my car, I've had to have a new bumber put on after someone else hit my car.

And in the past month, I've got a dent in the drivers side door and a scrape along the passenger's side.

I feel your pain, I bought my car last May and by the time winter rolled around, I had ran over a few clumps of snow in the road that had rocks and hard ice in it, which completely messed up the bottom and lower side of my bumper, it gouged it right into the black plastic. I also got stuck in the snow once and then when being pushed out the plastic shield blow the engine got caught in some snow and got ripped out and bent beyond belief. I also has several scratches and a few dings, which drove me crazy.
