Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well half installed... Did the rear seats tonight took about 4 hours. I plan on doing the front seats on Thursday and recovering the door panel inserts at some point in the future. I lucked out and found the kit on eBay for $275 shipped (normally ~$800). A couple shops quoted $450-600 for the install but $20 worth of hog rings and pliers later, I tore into it. Definitely a DIY job if you have patience and common sense.
These pictures do NOT do them justice. They look and feel amazing. They're Ash grey with charcoal perforated inserts. I'll post up more pics when the fronts are done. They should smooth out a bit more from use and heating up.
Thanks! The leather for the door inserts came with the kit and I'll do them eventually. I'm not looking forward to pulling the door panels though. All in all it really isn't too bad of a job to do.

you can strap a tie on it!

nice man, can you post up a how to since i want to do this soon but not sure of the process or tools needed. Did you take of the fabric or put the covers right over?
You take the fabric off right down to the foam and then install the Katzkin leather right to the foam. I didn't take pics for a how to. There are a couple How-To's out there if you google katzkin installation or DIY, etc. None are specifically for a Camry but it's not too different.
It's really straight forward though, when you take off the cloth covers you'll see where the hog rings go and how it's all fitted. Katzkin also sells an install kit for ~$100 but that isn't needed really. I got the hog rings and pliers at a local marine store.
I HIGHLY recommend them, I'll post much better daylight pictures on Thursday when I get the fronts done. Those pics really do not do them justice at all...

That's good to hear...and I wouldn't worry about the door panels too much. They're a lot easier than they seem.
If you can reupholster you car you can take off a few door panels .
wow great work, i did this to my project car its very easy. Did you buy the special hog pin pliers or used a regular one? The ones made to hold the pins are sooo much easier. I plan on doing my this winter when i have nothing to do.
