5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I know that this post pales in comparison with the real mods you folks do, but I'm still taking baby steps with our new Camry.
In my eyes, I think the shift knob found in the latest generation Highlander Sport would make a subtle upgrade to the center console. I'm curious as to whether the silver/gray trim in the middle of the knob would match perfectly with the rest of the silver/gray trim pieces in our Camry.
Has anybody done this before? I did the customary search but did not find anything. Maybe I'm the only freak who likes the Highlander Sport shift knob.
For those who are curious, here is an Ebay link for a Highlander Sport. Useful photos are the fifth and sixth from the bottom.

Hmm... It does look nice. Highlanders are Japan built?
All the HL's I've seen and driven were built in Japan (basing on VIN's). We actually considered getting a Highlander prior to getting our Camry. Should've looked at the shift knob a lot closer then.
Speaking of VINs....and this may have already been discussed before and probably very obvious...but I noticed that Camrys built in Japan have a small square panel covering in the front bumper. I assume they are used during shipment. U.S.-built Camrys do not. And that concludes my random musing for the day. Sorry guys...
I replaced my SE leather shift knob with one from a Gen 2 GS400. Much nicer I think...

Very nice indeed on the leather knob, centennialman.
Unfortunately, our LE does not come w/ leather-wrapped steering wheel, much less, leather seats. I would go the leather route for consistency. Again, this is just me. I thought certain Camrys already come with this leather-wrapped shift knob? I saw this one for the Avalon (6th & 7th pix from the bottom):
Yep, you beat me to it, akira. I'm glad it fits! Pix would be nice or at least comment on how the color/texture match the existing trim pieces. Sounds like you didn't have to special order the knob.
Comfort before speed. That's my motto when it comes to my mommobile.
I would rather have my ass surrounded in leather than cloth. Not great leather, mind you, but leather nontheless. When I spill my Orange Bang I just wipe it off...no soaking into the fabric for me!
