Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
ok, so i sourced some tritium vials in orange color. finally found some dude in the netherlands. anyways i want to epoxy them in the air vent knobs. they glow a very dim orange and my interior gauges are orange and i think it will look bad ass. so my question is, is there a way to remove the air vent knobs?? i want to dremel a tiny hole in each of them 1mm x 1.55mm.
on the gen6, you have to take out the radio...the knob controls will be attached to the radio.
take off the knob control then you should see some tint screws on the back. maybe it is the same for your gen camry??
be cautious of whatever you do to that control. i "F'd" mine up and had to get a new one. from the dealer they quoted me $700 for a brand new one. I went to the junk yard and got one from a smashed camry for $100.
Good luck.

ahh. i think you misunderstood. i mean just the plastic pieces on the airvents that control the direction of the air. accords etc sometimes have small pieces of chrome accent on these.

it would be easier to remove the whole trim.. use a flat head screwdriver and pry out the HVAC controls(pry out from the extreme ends in a 45 degree angle). Disconnect the 2 wire harnesses from the HVAC controls. After that, just pull outwards from the bottom of the trim and it should come out. Dont pull too far because the wire harness for the clock will still be attached.
