VSC/TC - I know it's another one

I don't think I've ever really driven a car with this kind of system before, but now that I've been reading more and more about it, I wonder if I should have gotten it on my new Camry...

1.) I don't drive in snow. The roads here in Boston are plowed.

2.) I drive slower and more carefully in the rain, and most people do as well.

In light of these, does it actually matter to have it or not for dry weather conditions?

i find it fun to toss the car in a turn and watch the lights blink at me, it has started to become a game to me when i get bored on my late night travel.

t/c is kinda cool, when it was snowing or raining, u wouldnt just waste time spinning. it also helped me pull up a deep gravel road, brakes were working over time but the car stayed on top of the gravel and made it up the hill.

Good to know thanks. I'm actually a bit miffed that Toyota is one of the few in this class that seems to not have Traction and ESC as a standard feature in this class.

Yep, well the thing is, if it's a "safety feature", then it kind of argues against being able to turn it off easily.

Sure the foot pumping is annoying, but you could do it for the tracks whatever, where supposedly you are waiving your safety to a degree anyway.

Honestly, I will probably drive my V6 Camry fun and hard for a year or two and get rid of it for something else.

At least you have the option for it. Here it comes standard with all new Camry's. What I would like to see is the ability to easily switch VSC off with a simple flick of a switch.
I agree but regardless of how good your driving skills are no one is perfect and not everyones reaction is quick where it will prevent any crashes. Even the most cautious drivers will get into accidents. When your car starts to slide or lose traction, your mind cant react to the situation that quick cuz you'll probably be panicing.

That doesnt mean that the TC and VSC will save your ass everytime but its always good to have as a backup or main safety. My uncle has it on his minivan and all his cars and he drives a lot. He loves to drive and when I was talking to him about getting my Camry at the time, the first thing he mentioned was the TC and VSC and to get it. He told me that it has saved his life multiple times. He's not a speeder nor is he a reckless driver.

Also, just because the roads are always plowed, doesnt mean there wont be ice or black ice where you wouldnt be able to see or feel until you notice your car starts to slide. Once icy spot is all it takes. Same goes for a rainy day when you car starts to hydroplane over it.

VSC/TC can also get you killed. I've made turns in front of oncoming traffic that wouldn't have been a problem, but the damn TC felt a bit of wheelspin caused by some loose gravel, so it neutered the engine to try to keep the wheels from spinning. Not good.

Personally, I can drive. I don't need a computer trying to help me out. Thus, no TC for me (and damn glad I could get it without TC, too!)
