You've never been down there, huh? If nothing else do this--go to Google Earth and zoom in the town it was registered in, and then look around the area. It is an >extremely< impoverished area. Roads are bad by LA standards and their standards are pretty low. Even if there had not been a serious storm in the area during recent history, I would want to check it for mud damage because it might simply have been parked somewhere and have sunk to the axles. It happens down there. Look under the car and search for damage from bottoming out. Pot holes can go to China in that parish. It is created totally from sedimentary silt washed down from up river. Where is the car now and how much are they asking? With average mileage and priced at about a grand, maybe take the risk.

Oh, and another thing.....you've heard those Cajun chefs talk on television with those phoney accents? In Plaquemines, they really do talk like that. And there is no 's' sound in Plaquemines.

The car is in Garland now - It has 15K miles on it. They are quoting $22.7K (pre-haggle price) for it - fully loaded. The deal sounded too good to be true - Guess it is!

I'd argue that 22,700 isn't such a great price even for a nice clean car. In 2007 I bought a new LE in Dallas with leather, wheels, v6, etc for 25,000. Felt like I got a good deal at the time. For 22,700 you are well on your way to getting a new 2009, pretty well equipped, full new car warranty, and no concern of past history.
