Gen5 Changing rear wheel hubs.

Recently my Camry v6 LE 2003 have been giving me issues (through no fault of the car) on the rear left hand side wheel hub. Due to my hard turns and tendencies to operate the vehicle like a ferrari, the rear wheel bearing has given up on me.

I brought my precious car into the dealership and they quoted me for $800 to replace the rear wheel hub (with bearings?). At that point, I decided that it was just a tad bit out of my budget and decided to replace them myself.

I surfed the web a bit and found some repair manuals but neither of them specifically stated how to remove the disks, calipers, and hub.

I do however know how to remove and replace parts as I have done my own brake pad replacement, but what I am interested in is, how hard should one torque those nuts ()?

There's a bunch of bolts I have to remove and I havent the slightest clue on the process of removing them. Given enough time, I would most likely figure out how to remove it, but perhaps with the help of you guys, I can save myself from a bad headache and a even more costly repair bill.

Has anyone ever replaced a rear wheel hub on a front wheel drive car? If so, what should I look out for?

Thanks guys

The Autozone website at www.autozone.com has detailed drawings and torque specs for this section of the car.

The bearings come with the hub and if ABS equipped the sensor.

For a lower cost repair check out after market name brand parts.

Easier than the front wheel bearing that is for sure. As long as you know how to remove the rear rotors, you are already there. Four more bolts and one connector.

N.E.O.
