Gen5 Damn Battery Tie down keeps coming loose

The vertical bar that holds the cross bar to the battery tray has come loose for the 3rd time. Im worried that one day I'm going to take a corner, the battery will go flying and tear all sorts of wires out. I have a Kirkland battery in. When I tighten down the bolt, it snugs up just fine with no side to side play in the vertical bar when grabbed.

Am I an idiot? It looks simple, the bottom hook, hooks in to the only gap thats there. It doesn't look like the hook or the hole is bent. and I know the bolt isn't loosening up.

Then it's your bottom hook(s).

are you sure the nut isn't coming loose? a new hold down bolt/hook comes with thread lock on the threads... so that may have worn away on your bolt over the years. simple check is to get some thread lock, and reapply it. if the bar no longer comes loose, that was the problem.

You know how I opened with me not thinking Im an idiot? Well Im an idiot. Where the vertical strut goes, there's what looks like a hook. The corresponding hook from the vertical bar fits on this hook very well. In reality there is a hole about half an inch down on the side of the battery tray that you are suppose to use. It makes so much more sense now.
