5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My 03 Camry was totalled last night here in Houston. My mom borrowed the car because her car was blocked in at home. Some stupid a$$ ran a red light doing 60mph, didn't stop, ran into the rear passenger side of the car and drove off. 3 mexican guys in a 86 Toyota van. The guy hit my car so hard it spun the car around 4 times. Damage to the car includes: rear door, rear bumper, hood flexed, my rims bent, looks like it bent the axles, frame looks bent, interior is damaged. What really pisses me off other than the guy leaving and didn't have insurance, is that this car was in the process of being all show.
My mom walked away with no scratches thank God. I'm happy she's okay, but pissed about the car.
Mods to the Camry included:
- Mercedes Benz leather interior swap
- Custom dash/door trim pieces
- Full suspension (trd sway bars/strut bars/springs/shocks, etc)
- Custom 3PC 19in Racinghart C4's
- Exhaust
- Molded Mercedes Benz door handles
- Limo tint all the way around
- Custom subwoofer setup under back seat
- Diamond Audio component sets for high's/mid's
- Indash widescreen tv/navigation/dvd
- Blacked out headlamps/emblems/grill/etc
- Performance engine mods
- Molded GS300 foglamps
- Philips HID kit
- Custom alarm setup w/paging device
- Global tracking system
- VIN tracking on all doors/body/windows, etc.
- Lojack tracking system
- Custom body kit being finished
host of other junk aswell as other plans for the car. Insurace denied claim to replace the addons either though I had that junk insured. WTF didn't I just drive her to where she needed to go and why was was the Camry the chosen car to drive.
but mate, this sorta thing could happen to any body at any time. i really doubt that you could of changed your fate if you drove your mum to wherever she needed to go, or if she chose to drive a different car, or even if she chose to drive a different route, this still could of happened.
mate, you can own as many cars as you want in your lifetime, but you only have the one mum and she is more important than a car.

probably because the Camry wasn't driven much. My daily driver is a 2003 V6 Accord. We probably know each other, since I know most of the import scene from Houston.
damn 35,000 thats seems alot for what is done...but man i feel ya...so is the camry total total? cuz that would suck....well jw what does the custom kit look like? and I'm also planning on crazy mods for my car....jw what you gonna get next...if its something else, parting anything out?

nothing to part out man. they hit the car so hard it blew up everything in the trunk, bent 2 wheels, ripped door handles off, shredded the back seat and passenger seat, center console busted, tore up the suspension, blew up the subs/box, twisted the exhaust. only thing that survived from what I can tell is the tv/dvd/navigation.
the body kit I was designing was a blend of the skyline/bw/buddy club/wings west kit. I was planning to do NSX rear vents and blend them into the rear fender/doors, the kit was to get molded on, I was in the process of having a hood scoop/vents made for my hood, then I was going to repaint the car the same color but with alot of clear coats.
future plans were to do a custom trunk with break apart amp rack, 15in plasma flat screen molded into the trunk, 2 10in. jl w7's. I wanted to get rear window spoiler off the l-sportline setup. I was also planning to do the GS headlight/taillight conversion. would of look dope when done but haters always gotta ruin stuff.
