Hey guys i think i may have an issue with my brakes..
I replaced my rotors and pads with brembo blanks and hawk pro ceramics, respectively, about 3-4 months ago and now i get squealing like the pads are low, at times very harsh squealing, and an almost grinding feeling on the pedal. This only happens after driving for a while with braking quite often(aka city driving) and the rotors/pads are heated up. What could be the cause of this? At first i thought maybe i had worn out the pads in the short period of time, but it does not squeal/grind all the time.
Did you put brake lube on the pads where they slide onto the brackets?
I am not familiar with the parts that you had used, but on OEM pads if the brakes get a little over heated too often the surface of the pads get a little glazed and hardened, which would cause them to squeal or squeak from time to time. The only remedy is to give it a few hard braking to clean that up.

thanks for the quick response..
yes, i put lube on the back of the pads.. they dont just squeal but they also moan/grind.. it baffles my mind lol
Not just on the backing of the pads, but where they slide on the spring clips on the bracket. This will also prevent the clicking noise from the brakes when changing from reverse to forward when first take off in the morning, which is a common complaint.

sorry im not quite sure what part you are talking about.. could u point it out in a picture possibly?
and with all this talk about lubrication, do you think the components just need a re-lube?
I don't really have any picture of the part, but here is a link from Autozone: http://www.autozone.com/shopping/rep...00c152801972df. The diagram for the front brakes calls them the pad support plates. The pads fit into them, a little bit of brake lube on the ends of the pads where they come in contact.
From your description, I think you pads were just glazed over, it will probably stop squealing if you slam the brakes a few times.

you don't need brake lube. I switched to brembo drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads just last week. It groaned and moaned for half a day and stopped. I didn't use any brake lube.
Don't relube.
Do check the spring clips on the bracket. It tapes onto your pads. Make sure its installed correctly or at all.
Groaning and moaning is usually breaking in period, which should be the first 200-500 miles. If your car has over 500 miles on the new brakes, I'm just baffled too

I have had these installed for a few months, which equates to at least 1500 miles. This just started happening recently. At first, I heard squealing like the pads were low, but it was not consistent. Then, after a longer trip and a lot of city braking on the way home, the harsh squealing and grinding occured. I was going to check the brake pads the day after but when i drove it, it was gone.
To N.E.O. : I'm still not sure what part that is, I havent looked at the actual brake setup in a while, but maybe I will go out and do a bit of hard braking and i see if the problem persists or i get the squealing/grinding after being heated up again.
Also, i was reading a little online and some people say that the grinding could me caused by a foreign object(ie: rock, dirt, etc) stuck between the rotor and pad. Does this make sense?
Perhaps the brakes are dragging a little bit. Did you clean and lubricate where the caliper slides? Maybe a piece o' crap got stuck in there and is holding it up???????? have a friend pump the brakes while you watch the caliper compress on the rotor. Make sure the rotor spins freely when they take their foot off the brake.
The anti squeal stuff gets applied where ever the brake pad and caliper touch. Generally on the outer 1/4 on each side of the stationary pad and where the piston(s) are on the other pad
Good Luck,
Larzzzz
