4cyl tranny

Just curious on how long everyone is getting out of their LE 4cylinder automatic transmissions. Mine is an 03 with 77k on it right now, its alittle jerky at times but normally its pretty smooth.
Also whats a cost of a rebuilt one, just incase I might need it someday. Thanks dudes.

I'm so new bro. Just reached 1,000 miles on my 09.

Trannies aren't cheap nor is the labor, but unfortunately I can't give an approx amount. I'm just glad I have a lifetime unlimited mile powertrain warranty. Let's just hope Toyota doesn't catch amnesia when/if I need it. lol

I know a new 6-speed tranny for the SE V6 Camry costs $3200 before labor and taxes.

I wouldn't think it would die that early. It could easily see a couple of hundred k with proper maintenance. If your auto hasn't been serviced (likely) have it done. It'll help shift it smoothly and prolong it's life.

Do one or more drain and refills. That should help out with the jerkyness.

No need to change the filter since it's just a screen. Drop the pan and clean the screen with clean fluid if you want but it's not absolutely necessary.

My 04 with 180K miles is smooth as butter. I changed the fluid at 110K.

'03 auto with 116,000 miles (on my way to 120,000 mark!). no problems with transmission. it still shifts predictably and smoothly.

edit: tranny fluid changed about every 40,000. it will be changed again at the 120,000 mark.
