500 miles on my new 2009 Camry LE V6 and...

So far, with only 1.5 weeks under the belt:

1. Engine seems to be making a tick tick noise at idle, I *just* noticed it today.
2. Left side makes a high frequency tapping sound (like a piece of glass is vibrating) at high speeds/highway, now something in the rear is making a similar noise.
3. Throttle lag, severe in "D", better in Maneumatic, but my fuel economy seems to get shot in this mode.

I don't think I even want to bother with service, my time feels like it's worth more to me than this Camry...

We'll see what else happens... but if this is the future of TM, I can see them going down a rocky road indeed.

Seems like you haven't given the ECU/PCM enough time to learn your driving habits. You might want to drive it a bit more aggressive. The ticking might be the Dual VVTi controller, but someone with a V6 might be able to confirm that. Good luck.

It didn't make the ticking before, and I think that was a bit more preferable.

I wonder if the high-frequency sound is the same one I've been hearing in my '09 SE V6. It sounds almost like static... high frequency and annoying. It took me weeks to figure out that it was coming from the steering wheel. You can test this theory by placing your hand on the horn (but obviously don't beep your horn) to keep it from vibrating. I'm going to ask the dealer to fix this when I bring it in for my first oil change.

My 07 V6 makes a tick noise as you described. Most Toyota engines are a little noisey; however, they are very dependable. Most likely it is nothing to worry about.

The driving response you describe, also sounds to me as if the ECU has not learned you yet. Don't be afraid to run it a little.

As far as the other noise youe described, never had such noise.

Good luck... I am also not to happy with TMC quality...

I've pinpointed the new noise from the rear. It basically sounds like the windows are rattling whenever the car hits a bump or uneven road.

Yep, it's the rear windows themselves. I can reproduce the sound perfectly by closing the rear doors at variable intensities, and also by just tapping the rear windows from the outside.

Sounds like something is loose inside of it.

I'm hoping to take a $3k loss in a year and get rid of this thing as soon as I can afford to.

It isn't, the steering wheel is steady on the highway (thankfully). It's probably some stray, misaligned piece of plastic.

Why do you want to get rid of your car?

My V-6 has a ticking sound, then again so did the old "slant six" and those things ran forever.

I expect my new cars to not rattle and creak in days of owning it.
