Gen 5 Engine sputters and check engine light came on, covered by warranty?

2003 Gen 5 4 cyclinder with about 48K miles, I have the extended warranty. I was at a stop sign then all of the sudden the engine started to "sputter" as if it had no gas (there is gas in the car), then it died. The check engine light coincidentally came on as well. Does the extended warranty cover the check-engine light diagnosis, I'm guessing it should cover the repair as well is that true?

You can always bring the car to a place like AutoZone and have them scan it for free, then you would know what the problem is.

unfortunately in San Francisco there are no Autozones, only Kragens, and they only sell the scanners, cannot return opened tools............does anyone know if the Extra Care extended warranty covers a check engine light diagnostic?

Is it too tough to read your extended warranty?????

You're the one who should know what's in it.

well it turned out the battery was nearly dead, confirmed it by taking it to Kragen to test. I wasn't aware that a car could still start even with a bad battery.
