tire question

I got an 08 camry LE that came with Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 tires. its got about 7000 miles on it and one of the rear tires got a flat. Should i replace it with one single MXV4 s8 tire, or should i get 2 brand new tires of a different brand....say yoko advan s4????

And BTW, the tire cant be patched.

Depending on how much tread is left on the other side. At 7000 miles, you might be able to get away with just one tire, but it would depend on how the one on the other side look like.

Only if the puncture is on the tread, if the sidewall is punctured it can't be patched, which sounds like the case.

7000 miles isn't that much, unless the tyres look significantly worn just fit a new one. If you're really concerned move the new tyre to the back.

I had this exact problem recently with the same Michelin tires and replaced just the one tire. I had more mileage than you have now, and have experienced no problems with replacing just the one tire. Incidently, expect to pay just over $200 for that one tire. They are V rated tires. These things are not cheap.

Same thing with me. I replaced one side at just under 10,000 miles. Second flat since I bought the car in July 07. Both times I had to replace the tire.
