Yep. Dealers love "Special Editions" and dealer-installed options because they are high-profit items that add significantly to the car's price.
In addition, in 3-5 years when you return to trade the car in, those same options which you paid through the nose for are worth very little, if anything upon trade-in.
For instance, almost none of the available accessories available for new Camrys would increase the value of the car after it's driven off of the lot. (The exception being the alloy wheels- although they aren't worth anything near what the dealer charged initially)
Your father might get a bit more if he tried to sell the vehicle himself, but don't count on getting more than a few hundred more than a similarly equipped LE (if that).
