My 2009 Camry SE TSX Retrofit in progress..

I started my GEN6 Camry retrofit tonight at 6:30 and at 9:00 this is where I am at thus far. 1st by using the search feature and reading up on www.hidplanet.com, I did hours of reading and studying up to perform my 1st HID retrofit. I used LNGasMan's and Cosism's approach of retrofiting my driverside headlight.
Picture 1. I used the original mounting bracket that came with the Halogen projector and dremeled out the inside. I did a mock up 1st to get the right cut offline see the ink marks on both sides.

I then test fitted the original bracket on the TSX projector. It was off so I had to drem out some more metal.

Once I got the bracket to where it lined up correcly I sandwiched the bracket between both projector halves and then used 4 screws to hold the projector together to the bracket

Next I mounted the TSX projector to the original mounting points on the headlight

I am going to mount and aim before putting the lights back together. This is my 1st ever retrofit and I am pleased how thing have gone so far. I feel that I did a very neet and clean stock looking mounting job.
Notice how nice the bottom screws line up with the two holes on the projector and the stock mounting bracket.

Here is a better pic of how I mounted the projector using the stock bracket.

Any opinions, comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Glenn

I wish I had the balls to open up the housing and then mess with electronics and measurements but I'm horrible at that sorta stuff. Hope it all turns out good, you know you have to post pics of the final product.

It was not as bad as I thought, but I did do a lot of research before I took this project on. Also I am very handy at fixing things and i do have quite a bit of tools which is half the battle. Plus I found it easier than most retrofits since the GEN6 camry came with a stock projector. this took me 2.5 hours.

Looking awesome! Know what size bolts, nuts, and washers you're using? The look like they fit perfectly!

Looks good. I have attemted using the original bracket previously, But wasn't happy with the way it turned out. So I found a guy with an automated plasma cutter, I Designed a bracket that will bolt directly in the stock projector location, and perfectly accomodate the TSX projectors, and sent the info to him to have the brackets made.

Have you tried them out? Will you be selling them?

JSM,
Those look great. I saw how other people on this forum have used the stock bracket to mount their TSX'S or the RX330'S which even seem to bolt up better. By doing my research here and on HIDPLANET I was able to retro my driverside headlight in 2.5 hours and its pretty solid. I can see how you made a template,
that what I did using the stock bracket. Thanks for the complement. The test will be how the alignment is
when I put the headlights on the car. But it looks like I got it because everything seemed to line up nicely.
Zack, I used some stainless steel nuts and bolts that I got from the shop at work. I'll take measurements or find out the size today.
Glenn

Glenn, You may need to trim down the side of the projector on the outer sides of the headlights. When you go to put the lens back on, the shrouds will be pushing on the side of the projectors, and it wont go on properly.

Thanks JSM,
I thought that would be the case because when I test fitted the shroud it was rubbing against the projector so you confirmed what I thought that I was going to have to do thanks for your help and imput
