Gen5 04 camry full spare tire still usable?

Hi, one of my front tire blew up today. I changed it to the full-size spare tire that was stored in my trunk, which is Bridgestone Potenza RE92. It is the same tire that blew up, only being never used - I even pulled some stickers out of it.

The rear tires (probably changed by the previous owner) have a lot of thread left, so I would normally change the front two tires, if I haven't recently bought a couch and a new LCD TV!!!

Would be it okay to keep the spare on and just get one same tire (So the spare and new tire will be on the front) and use the survived front as spare. I searched a bit and learned that tires age but they're okay for 6-10 years depending on the weather it is stored... I live in Austin, TX. Any suggestion?

Thanks,

I think you should be ok if you do that. How are you going to use a tire that blew up? Did you just get a nail in it and get it patched? That's quite different than a tire blowing up!

If it is a full tire than you should rotate it with your other tires.

Theoretically that should be fine but nowadays it's recommended you change your tires at 6 years of age or sooner regardless of tread depth. In my opinion though, as long as you don't see tiny cracks and the rubber isn't rock hard due to age, I wouldn't worry.

Only one of the front tires is gone. The other is fine, no patch or fix is necessary to use it as a spare. I will get one new tire and pair it up with the original spare tire (4 years old virgin) to my front.

There is a manufacturing date on the tire. Google it and see how you have to figure it out by the number printed on the sidewall. It would be the week and year of production. That is the age of the spare, not necessarily 2004.

When I'm stuck with mix and match tires, I always pair up identical tires on the drive wheels so the differential isn't making up the difference of circumferences when driving in a straight line.
Sounds like your plan will work.
