5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Some of you might remember that I lost a wheel and tire last month after hitting a big chunk of steel on the freeway... Blowout this morning
After getting the new wheel and tire on the car, I had a vibration at about 60 to 70mph. So I had the tires road force balanced twice. The second time they rotated two of the tires on the rims. Moving the high side or heavy side of the tire 180 degrees. The idiot at Big O gouged two of the rims in the process. Needless to say I was pissed. The bad part is I had 5Zigen SportEngines that have been discontinued. I picked up the last two in the US last month. So there was no way for them to replace the Zigen's. So I had them order me a set of ASA AR1's. Not exactly what I wanted but I still like them. Also my wife ordered me a set of H&R spring for our anniversary.
So now I'm dropped with a new set of rims.
Here's some before and after's:
Before the drop with 5Zigens:
After the drop with ASA's:

Yeh I was a little surprised that H&R's didn't have that much of a drop. I wish I had measured before and after. To me it looks like about 1.2 to 1.3 drop. Next set of tires I'm going to go to 235/45/18 to fill a little more of the wheel well. I guess the good part is that it handles much better, I don't have to worry about every driveway or speed bump. And ride quality is not significantly diminished. A couple other cars I have lowered posed problems in this area.
As I get older (53 going on 18) some of things that seemed so important to me in the past, just don't trip my trigger anymore. I am happy with the looks and ride quality and thats all that is important to me now. After all this is just my commuter car. And it doesn't look like every other Camry out there.
Thanks for the replies

Moky, you might be right, but if they don't have them in stock they have to go to 5Zigen directly. That's where I picked up the last two they had in the US (HQ is in Carson). Not importing anymore. And that's a shame since these are hot wheels.
Also Big O had to pay for the new ones and I'm sure they weren't going to check every online source out there. But it's done now and I'm not looking back...Also I have a brand new wheel still in the box I bought for a spare. I think I put in the FS section or on Ebay and see if i can recoup some coin.
Thanks
