Get rid of the stock spakers they are weak.

I was going to do amps and sub but I just replaced the rear and door speakers leaveing the dash tweeters and it sounds great it has enough bass and volume for me.

You will need adaptor plates and 6x9 rear speakers I used 6.5 in front got it all on ebay for $110

I also added the Dice ipod interface that uses the radio to control the ipod

works great.

okay well if you want serious bump and not to spend lots of cash. Get a decent sub, box, amp, high gauge wire. you dont need expensive speakers. get some passive crossovers(aka bass stoppers) there like 3 bucks at the store. install them to your positive and what it does is take out the low frequency in the speakers so you can turn it up without them distorting. then you can control your bass when it hits in the back yet you have clear vocal. if your gonna hook it up to stock id buy a equalizer or get an amp with a control on it so you can turn it up or down depending on the song without getting out of your car to adjust your amp

I agree if you want bass thump add a sub I would recomend an all in one like the Infinity bass link with remote gain adjustment.

But after looking at the stock speakers they are so light that before you do anything else replace them first.

I have had many audio systems but in my 2009 camry replaceing the rear and door speakers and keeping the bass setting on max the standard radio does the job and as of now I do not feel the need for a sub.

MJM adaptor plates $40
Pyle blue series 6X9 triax $44 delivered
Infinity 6.5 woofers $30
Stock dash tweeters $0

Also to answer one of your origional questions by adding a line out converter you can feed add on amps with a stock radio.

To answer your initial question yes you can hook up just a sub and amp to the stock radio cause that's what I have, you'll just need an adapter install behind the radio for it work properly with the amp. If you're not going for competition on audio there is no need to swap out your stock speakers...they are just fine, not the best but still better then more stock cars IMO.

thanks for all the replies

i have couple more questions what are the good speakers to replace the stock speakers.

i am thinking if i just change the stock speakers with the good aftermarkets ones i think i should be fine because i dont need a big thump with bass all i want the speakers should sound good and should be able to take the bass from the stock stereo

i am sorry i an very naive to all this so asking few extra questions

tell you what... i just had my system done last week and i love it... i didn't spend over 400 dollars... like you said if you don't want really loud and don't want big thump... you can just leave all your stocks and just buy...

1. Kenwood 1000/2 amp
2. Cap.
3. Sub box (not ported)
4. Punch P3 12"
5. Dynamat
6. Hi/Low
7. Bass Knob

that's all... you will not spend over 400 dollars... and gets the sound you want... because i think the stock speakers are fine just the way it is... and you just need to bass... that's all... well that's my opinion...
