A/C Floor Setting Not Working

Any suggestions? I turn it up on any fan speed, and set it on the floor setting, and nothing blows out the bottom vents. pretty much no air is getting to the bottom vents.

I do feel some air blowing out of the windshield defroster vents when I put it on the floor setting. seems like something is blocking it maybe?

Most likely, you have a damper hung up, the linkage from the actuator motor has slipped off, or the actuator is bad.

Check your Service Manual for a air flow diagram and troubleshooting matrix.

ah so i'm guessing this motor is the one routing the air. It works for the other settings, but just not the lower. I'll check it out

There may be up to four different actuators, so you may want to find a manual to make sure you are looking at the right one. The one that you are looking for is probably the air outlet control actuator, I believe, and probably is on the passenger side of the dash.

ah ok, i have seen the blower assembly when I was changing the cabin filter. I'm guessing it's around in that area.

Update:
I just looked at a service manual, and it says to check the "Mode Damper Servo Assmbly" but i'm pretty sure that is working since the other modes switch correctly, but i'm gonna take a look at it.

It also says to check the A/C Control assmbly and shows a picture of a wire harness diagram. What should I be looking for when I inspect this? I dont' have a multimeter on me, so i can't check that for now.

The actuator operates more than one mode door, so you will have to visually look at its operation closely to determine if all of them are operating to spec.

I used search

I have the exact same problem in my 2002 Camry XLE. No air from the floor vent when set to floor (or flor & face, or floor & def). Other modes work fine.

Where exactly is this actuator? is is easy to reach?

I stuck my head under the dash & had a good look at the actuator/servo (Driver side under dash) and it does rotate/move. I didn't dare to remove the servo etc. Space is too tight and didn't want to mess it up (I am sure, that stuff is complex.)

Just that when I select Floor position, some door is not moving & perhaps is stuck inside that black housing. !!

Any idea how much the dealer would charge to look at this?

2002 Camry. The floor vent position alone wasn't working. (no air from floor vent) - FIXED.

(Re-posting for the other person who had the same issue).

The lever with the pin had come out of the other level that has the track. See the PIC and fix is simple.

Lie down under the steering with a flash light and you can see it. I stuck my camera and pictures from that found it!

wow, Sundarpn's suggestion worked!!! wow, what an easy fix, what I did to see where it was, was to move the air direction setting(furthest knob to the right) . and looked at the motor turn. and looked at the pictures and found the pin had come out. wow!

Thanx sundarpn! My winters will be warmer now

I had the same problem when I first bought my used 2002 Camry. To cure the symptom is to put the vent control arm back into the servo control track. But has anyone found out why the arm pops out of the track? Did something fall into a vent?

The arm has and the other arm with the track seems to have little bit of play... might have popped out. No biggie.
