Gen6 Clean cheap DVD player 8" screen install

I have had video screens in my cars before and wanted something for the Camry when I am waiting in the car.

I have a 12 volt DVD player that I was going to install in the glove box and was looking at screens for the dash or a sunvisor screen which would have ment a lot of wireing for a clean looking install.

I was at Best Buy and found this LG unit on sale for $137.99 I like the 8" size and the picture is excelent a lot better than most car screens I have seen and the DVD player is in the unit.

Power and the AUX input jacks are right there and the unit has a very clean look.

The flat battery pack that is hinged on the player fits perfectly on top of the compartment door and then I wedge the door up and it stays in place.

when not in use I keep the player in the seatback pocket.

NO wireing no drilling and it can go with me or to the back seat.

I am looking for a 12 volt HDTV tuner to go with it I have seen a lot of regular tuners but they will be no good soon.

If anyone has some advise I would appreciate it.

M

Looks like an oversized ipod... hahaha

One recommendation... don't leave it in the rear seat pocket... that's asking for it to get stolen... I'd say glove compartment

Well that may be easier than waiting for Coastal electronics to get their lockpick working for the Camry. Do you have a model number?

How do you mount it? Will it fall off?

Gen6 My reply

It is an LG DP889 and as I wrote the thin battery on the hinge fits in above the cubbyhole door and I prop the door up holding the player in place with no problem.

For those interested...

Currently on sale at Circuit City for $169.99

As for the HD tuner in a mobile application, I could go into a diatribe about the engineering side of mobile use of North American HD standards but I think this thread sums it up better than a rant from me...

Attach a huge satellite dish to the hood of your car like they do on RV's or SUV's

This was a nice, concealed DVD installation: armrest.

Taken from ebay-- not trying to threadjack :P

However, you can purchase the DVD armrest separately. Its like $600-700.
