My GF's 09 Camry SE (4cyl) is due for an oil change. She doesnt want to spend the money for Mobil1 5w20 so she might go with another brand. I just recommended them and Royal Purple because i think its some good oil. Just had a couple of questions...? What kind and brand of oil and weight do yall use? How many quarts do yall put in, 4 or 4.5? the manual says 4.5, will it be OK if we put 4? i have a Scion tC and it seems that my tC and her Camry have the same part number for the oil filter (90915-YZZG1). I bought a box of 10 from TRDSparks.com a while back so just double checking thats the correct part number, ill use that filter. OEM is better anyways. One last question and its not about oil, i noticed she doesnt have a dip stick for the windshield washer fluid, is that correct? If so how does she check her fluid level? thanks for the help!

Fill the washer fluid to the top.
You have the correct filter.
Synthetic oil isn't mandatory. Use a 5W20 dino oil.
4.5 qts. is the right refill amount with a filter change. Change every 5,000 miles to keep your warranty intact.
fill to the tip top? I dont think its necessary to have THAT much, i used my dip stick and it says its normal. She bought the car in May and only has about 2700 miles on the ticker? should i wait or change it now. we did have a hot summer down here in south tx?
i was using Royal Purple till before i turbo my car.. and i was feeling much better if u use Royal Purple u still have to change the oil at 3k since my 4cyl camry is Turbo i do every 2k with regular Oil
Happened to be at my local Advance Auto Parts today and they had your choice of 5 quarts of ANY Mobil 1 oil and a Mobil 1 filter for $29.88. No limit. Great deal if you like 0w-20...

3+ times the cost of my dino oil change w/Toyota filter. Not for me....
4 quarts should be enough.. you might need a slightly bit more. BUT be prepared to be using screwdrivers and a hammer to get that first oil filter off the engine

Get a good filter wrench instead of using a screwdriver, and hammer.
Many brands of oil are sold in 5 quart containers. Get one of those. It's cheaper. Any common brand is just fine, but change every 5k miles or sooner if low mileage stop and go. I like Castrol but everyone has a favorite and they all vary. Can't remember once in the last 60 years that an engine failed because the oil gave out inside of 3k miles, and they make it better now than in 1950.
The windshield wiper tank does not have a dip stick. Fill it full and forget it. Don't like it full? fill it until you are happy and close the top.
Take one of the new Toyota filters with you to the parts store and find a wrench that will fit the bottom snugly so you can crack the original filter. They are always very tight.
You just posted a pic of your wrench. Put it on the filter and see if it is very snug or at all wobbles. If it is at all loose, it likely won't work.

Well said, get a wrench like the one pictured in Yanki01's post above.
