With your 02 Camry,
205-65-15= 25.49" overall diameter (stock)
215-50-17= 25.46"
215-55-17= 26.31"
225-50-17= 25.86"
As you can see, what you had 215-50-17 is the closest to stock. 215-55-17 is a bit too big although it will still fit. But I would go with 225-50-17 as it will give you a little bigger sidewal, bigger diameter and also wider tire for more traction.

well the 2005 Camry SE V6 uses 215-55-17 for stock so you should be fine.

thats a diff. body style.. plus i think you are referring to 2007-2009 camry SE which uses 215/55/17's.

i would go with 225/50/17's.. better ride quality. but im not sure with 17x7 though.. i have 17x7.5 and running 225/50/17. the wheel and tire are on the same surface. no bulging.. i think if your gonna put 225 width with 7 with rim its gonna bulge a lil..
