Gen5 Installing a sub into a Gen 5

Hi,

I am trying to put a sub into my camry. But I can't seem to find any possible way to get the power cable from the battery through the firewall into the cabin.

Anyone done this and can shed some light?

thanks!

I noticed you are from down under, so are you right hand drive? If so, i dont know if the layout is different, but in my left hand drive, i went through where the driving shaft comes into the cabin. If you open your hood and slide underneath the steering column, you can remove the rubber grommet and find your way into the engine bay. Once there, you should be able to locate it. Good luck!

you can also wire your power wire paralle through the hood release cable, it will work with 4 awg wire, anything bigger you will need to make the hold bigger

There's another spot for left side drive vehicles. I'm assuming it will be the same for right side except flipped. There's a rubber grommet that has two little rubber parts that are about 1.5 to 2" long. You can cut the tip off the rubber "nipple" and feed the cable through there. which is what I did. I'll take a pic tomorrow to clarify.

Honestly, I don't see why manufacturers don't pre-drill a nice 2 inch hole from the factory to save all of modders the trouble.

I mean, of course there's a high likelihood of someone adding a sub when all you provide is 6 x 9 speakers. Or maybe wiring for a foglight switch, etc.

Is it really that big a deal for Toyota to drill us a nice little hole through there?
