Try scratch remover, KIT scratch out (forgot the exact name) works good for me, most of the time. It should take out stains and scratches too, get the clearcoat safe.
If they are surface deposits only (no or very, very little etching) the "liquid" clay might work. I have not tried that particular product but have used a LOT of different clays over the years and if the spots are mild, they should clear up your problem
If the water spots have etched into your clear coat however, you will need to clean, clay, polish and then protect the paint. You might be able to get them out with a clay but most of the time a PC or rotary and good polishes and pads are needed. I would use a regular clay bar before polishing though just to make sure....
i know exactely how. first wash your car, dry it in the shaid, apply a wax coating to remove any dirt that might be on your pain, then use an automitive clay bar that will take off anything but your paint. i do custom cars and i have to do this regulary. it works well. you can get the clay bar from pro line body parts.
I have to disagree with part of your post. You do NOT wax the car before claying. A good clay lube and your clay will remove surface contamination and your wax. You wash first, that I agree with. Then you use a good clay to remove embedded grit. After claying, if the paint requires it, it is then polished. After polishing, you must protect the paint with a good sealer or wax (or both).
I do agree that all of this should be done in the shade (if possible) although some polishes will work in the sun (PB's SSR series comes to mind) as long as the body panels are fairly cool to the touch.
clay bar once or twice depending on how bad, also you can use a light compound, use also a paint cleaner.
Thats just have of what I do to clean damaged paint
