Adding A Subwoofer, Line Output Connections, Sub Woofer Box Recomendations

i have searched all Sub woofer threads but none seem to answer the simple questions i have and i am sure many have.
Where did you connect your line output converter... front or back? if rear what color is pos+ and neg-?
What box are you using sealed or ported?
What type did you use?
What freq did you tune your amp for?
Anything weird you noticed when adding your sub?

i hope everyone replies to this post so we cane share our experiences i will share mine in this thread as well
thanks

Use whatever enclosure you like. Sealed or ported is up to you. Some people like ported, some like sealed, some like bandpass, some like infinite baffle. Use the one that fits the type of install you want and provides the sound you like.

What type do people use? For me, I think the type is arial, but I'm sure you can change the type to your liking. What does this have to do with subs?

What freq did I tune the amp for? I set mine to pass

What weird thing should I notice when installing the sub?

Well first off, usually Positive is Red and Negative is Black. Second it depends what your goals are to determine of you wante sealed or ported. I have a 13w7 in a sealed prowedge box. Im got a Hifonics Brutus 1600rms amp running it, with a 3 ohm load. Tuning is all up to you. Connection is very important, so dont get cheap on your connections.

okay let me explain

for my setup i used the yellow as the positive and the red as negative at the rear speaker for the connection to the line output converter.
i used a pheripial seven 2 as my line converter
i am using a sealed encloser and the bass is okay i enjoyed it more tunned at 80hz than when i had it at 50 hz
i noticed the bass cancled when the box was positioned at the back seat and that facing side ways i got much better bass responce with the box close to the trunk lid.
here is the weird part at about 55 on the radio the bass does not increase any more when the radio is turned up... i know the amp is not maxed out so i am guessing at 55 and up it is not increasing the signal to from the converter to the rca ...this is making me feel i may have my connections at the line converter input backwards.
hope this helps but this is what i meant when i started this thread it is meant for the people who did their own system not paid a shop to do it.

Hmm that seems odd...try messing with your configuration a little you might have something swapped. It could be that your sub doesnt have the power to handle? maybe going into protection? yeah i did my whole system myself. took me quite awhile to hook it up for my very first time, but i did it!

try adjecting the sensivity on the line converter to incease your decase the bass, also check you can tune the bass gain and senivity on your amp.

I used to run my stock radio to a line out converter and bass wasn't that great, if you have like a JL Clean sweep then that a different storie

Facing the subs towards the rear of the car will yield better bass response. The circuitry in the HU is designed to decrease the bass as u turn up the volume, this is to protect the speakers from blowing.I'm running basically the same setup as u and I also get the decrease in bass when turned up.Solution,we either go aftermarket with the HU or MTX makes a 'bass restorer',here's a link to that product....http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...=236REQ&tp=428

i think the problem to the bass decrease would be fixed if we ran the line converter at the radio. the wire diagram for our car says it gets the signel for the amp from the radio front channels and than amplifies it. i am going to try to make the connection at the radio and see if it gets a better signal at high volume. i think the taking away of bass at high levels has to be getting done at the jbl amp because thire isn't even a rear speaker output at the radio.
