Gen6 Headunit Color??

First off, i want to say hi to everyone. Ive been around this site for a while but recently registered and this is my first post.

Now what i would like to know is there anyway I could possibly change the color of the headunit. im not really feeling that turqoise-blue color. I dont want to change the whole unit either? Does anyone know if it can be swapped out or something else that could be done? Please let me know. Thanks!

-Mark

Mark,
Welcome to the forum. Yes, the color can be changed. Do a search on a user name Netforcer. He has started a thread about it. Also, there is a member name Ebumdude also did a few mods with LED.
Good luck.

Pretty much what lammydi has stated. Requires soldering/desoldering of little LEDs.

Yeah it does. Netforcer is a little more skilled in that area than I am. The only thing I actually changed with soldering was the steering controls. By the time I was going to do my headunit, I went out and got aftermarket instead.

I tried to do my hvac....messed them up pretty bad and had to go buy new hvac controls from a wrecked Camry out of New York.

I wish we can have the option to turn off the illumination during the night. Its too bright and gives the interior light. Not good when you have your car remote started. I even have tints on. I dont have my headlights or DRL on during the day so it doesnt illuminate for me.

IIRC if you turn down the illumination settings for the interior using your Trip knob you can turn it off, not 100% sure, its been a while since i drove the gen6.

But i think white LED's would look nice! white footwell lights, white hvac, white radio

I think thats for the gauges. At night, my gauge is not bright but the illumination from the HU is bright. Any dimmer, I wont be able to see the gauges on the dash. I'll take a look at it later tonight.

I would love to change the radio, hvac and steering wheel controls to white. But I dont know how nor skilled in that type of stuff. But I agree, would look good all white.

even when the HU isn't illuminated.. that blueish background color bothers me. i wish it was a simple face plate that could be changed...someone should invent it

This is what I was referring to in regards to dimming or turning off this blueish-green color.

Would of been easier if it was bulbs or something instead of LEDs

amazed

I'm amazed that one of the things that actually stand out as different and unigue about the camry are the things people want to change...

To me the problem is not the color it's that the rest of the interior lighting doesn't keep the same aqua color scheme.
