JBL problem 05 SE

I have a 05 SE with the JBL system (single disc). Here is the problem. Front speakers (doors and dash) sound fine. The rear speakers however, sound like they have no bass. I can tell a slight difference when turning it up or down so I know that function of the radio is working, but the bass is very minimal, even at 5. I get much more bass out of the doors than the rear. I am not looking for a big thumping system by any means, but expected it to be a much better sounding system than the standard factory in my 04 LE. That car has much more bass than this car and I usually have it on 3.

I was thinking about replacing the rear speakers first and see if that makes a difference before doing anything with the amp. I know the amp is working, but is it possible that something could be wrong with the amp and still have sound coming out of the speakers? I don’t know a lot about amps and such, so that is why I come to the experts. Any other suggestions? I just want to enjoy the great sounding system that so many talk about .
