Two 2009s one key imobilized other

I liked my 09 LE L4 (3K miles) that when my old GM vehicle broke beyond repair when I was out of state I replaced it with another 09 LE L4. The problem is the 'old' 09 will not start after I parked the 'new' one next to it and used the fob for the new one. None of the key fob functions work on the 'old' 09, clearly the 'new' car fob imobilized the 'old' car. It will not turn over, all electronics are dead.

Yes I did check the key and I do have the correct one.

It seems to me that this must have happened to someone else at sometime but I haven't found it on this forum.

Any ideas? Is it as simple as accessing the over-ride shift switch near the drive selector? You know when you have a nearly new car you hate to tinker w/o consulting the experts

Great forum BTW!

None of the electronics work? Is the battery dead?

Unplug the battery and plug it back in, maybe it'll reset the car.

I have 2 '08 LE I4, same color, model, everything is the same, and never had any problems.

Hahaha... But it's '09, you think it's possible?

Maybe someone fried his electrical system...

he said he was out of state, so the car may have been siting for a wile. To the OP, does the horn work? How bout the map lights? IF they're out its most likely your cars battery.

Dead battery? Ok I will try and report back. the OM says if two keys from differnt cars are in "close proximity" the car will be imobilized. It does not specify which car. The OM says take to a dealer. That sounds like way overkill to me. Now I am off to plug in the charger...

Yep, Duh it was the battery

It was the battery. The kids polly played with a map light. This does not answer the question of what the OM means by the close proximity for the keys remark. GT-R-V Spec: same color, same year? I wanted to do that but the wife said no had to be differnt colors LoL. Interesting both had floor mat option, one (Michigan) included trunk floor mat butAlabama did not include the same. Also strange current Michigan cash back is 650.00 November this model while AL is 1,500. I guess this depends upon sales in a given region

I don't know how close is close, but my guess is that those transponders don't work from more than 1 or 2 ft. My guess is that they mean don't have a key from a different car on the same key ring or key chain when you go to start the car.

Glad your problem is solved, and yes, we actually have 4 Camrys (3 Silver, 1 Aloe Green). Me, dad, and aunt have silver, uncle has green. All the same years ('08), mom has '02 Corolla.

From my experience is that when 2 different remotes are pressed at the same time, none of them will work.

This happened when I was in SD, when meeting Lammydi, my remote wasn't working, and I was goin' crazy.

usually when the immobilizer system is activated, the car will start, run for a few seconds, then shut off. Or crank but no start. If nothing happens at all, its the battery. Just keep that in mind

The remotes operate on the same frequency and will interfere with each other if operated simultaneously.

This is a Camry forum and we're discussing Camrys, not Hondas or any other possible immobilizer setup.

Sorry, "know it all" kid.
