#1. You either need to give up your valet key or get a Transponder Override Interface (XK05) for the remote start. The XK05 does not require you to give up your valet key. In order to have remote start, you need to have the key connected to the car. This tricks the car into thinking the key is in the ignition. I dont know what the installer meant that he "didnt have the device to make your car start remotely". I assume he meant the transponder override. Even if he didnt have it, if you gave up your valet key, he could have still set up the remote start.
#2. To pop the trunk, you need to purchase the trunk release solenoid (#522T)
#3. Is the stalk for your headlights turned to OFF? If its on DRL, Auto or Headlights, the parking lights will not flash when you unlock/lock the doors. I too thought something was wrong when I first saw my lights not flash.
#4. I had my alarm locked with the Viper 5701. I unlocked the door with my OEM key and the alarm went off. The only lights that flashed with the alarm was going off was the parking lights, taillights and license plate lights. No low beam or high beam flashed.
I have TSX retrofits and it never flashed so if you're putting plug and play HID kits, you have nothing to worry about.
The 5701 is the easiest alarm to install compared to others (from what I heard). So if your installer has installed other Viper products, this shouldnt be any different whether it be another Viper alarm, Python, Valet or Clifford. All the same company.
Retail price for the transponder is $99.99 and trunk solenoid is $59.99 according to Viper's website. I bought my transponder on eBay for $35 and seller installed the firmware for my car. I would of bought the trunk but I didnt know I needed it so I had my installer charge me for it. If I knew, I could of probably gotten it for like $15-20 on eBay and just gave it to my installer.
