Question Viper 5301 Remote Start for 2003 Camry

Hi Guys,
I am considering getting a Viper 5301 remote starter for my wife's 2003 Camry. (http://www.viper.com/P-4202V/Viper+5...e+Start+System) I can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere whether I need an override module or not. Anybody out here install one of these on an '03 Camry?
Best Buy told me I would need both a relay kit and an override module, but the Viper website seems to suggest I don't need anything else. I would like to buy it online (not from Best Buy) and install it myself to save hundreds of $$. Is it difficult?
Thanks,
Muskellunge

According to this...you need transponder override module and they suggest Data Transponder ALL Interface (PKALL)

http://www.drdetailshop.com/bypasskitxpresskit.htm

The PKALL is a data transponder bypass module that is compatible with more than 700 vehicle models from 1998 through 2009. This module is Self Learning and ready to install right out of the box!

The PKALL is the ultimate solution for Toyota/Lexus vehicles including push-to-start equipped models and hybrids

WHAT SET’S US APART FROM THE COMPETITION?
DATA TRANSPONDER BYPASS
- No wires to cut at key (more reliable solution!)
- Very low power consumption (3mA compared to competitors at 13mA
- Includes brake input/output for brake switch on Lexus vehicles with push-to-start (no wires to cut or relays to add)
- Pre-loaded with every firmware
- Maintains security features on push-to-start vehicles while remote started (safety shutdown)
- Compatible with old GEN1 Honda’s, Mazda’s and GM Aveo’s
  • Includes 2 way ED2D communication port for enhanced security of factory immobilizer systems.
  • For Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, infiniti, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Honda, Acura, Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, Pontiac and Suzuki. Select model years.
  • Encrypted ignition data override
  • Simplified install and programming. Connects quick and easy right at the ignition column.
  • Maintains the integrity of the vehicle's factory immobilizer on push-to-start ignition systems.
  • Self-Learning algorithm allows the module to self detect the type of vehicle and adjusts automatically.
  • Supports over 700 different vehicles right out of the box.
  • Upgradeable firmware via the internet. ( XPRESS VIP+)

The 5301 is the same as my 5701 minus the alarm. I got my 5701 plus installation for $400.

I believe that only the V6's and the XLE version of the I-4 could have immobilizers but I'm myself a little confused since I seem to recall that the keys have to be programmed to work with the car on all the models which doesn't seem to make any sense if there's no immobilizer.
Thinking about getting a remote start installed myself but now I'm even more confused. I do know that my alarm (some aftermarket POS) has some kind of engine start lock-out so that the starter doesn't work unless the alarm has been disabled, but I assume that doesn't require a bypass.
And for what it's worth the valet key has no bulge-I don't know if the immobilizer models get different valet keys?

^ you are probably thinking about the keyless remotes that need to be programmed not the keys themselves (at least on the non immobilizer models).

my 05 I4 LE did not have an immobilizer, i have the viper 5501 remote start installed. to the OP, install is not difficult as long as you know what you are doing. you should have a good multimeter and know how to test for the wires you need... and you should know how to solder.
