acceleration?

Sup guys, I have a 07 camry CE (stick). It has about 23-24k miles on it right now, and just yesterday I noticed the acceleration is kind of lagging. The acceleration doesnt lag when I am taking off, but lets say once im in 3rd-4th gear and I step on the gas, it lags alot. You guys know what this could be? Not getting enough air? And I havent changed my airfilter yet...if that helps. Let me know guys thanks

There is an extremely simple mod you can do to change that "air" issue. The info is somewhere around. I tried it but didn't seem to change much.

Anyway.. for my V6 I notice the lag is less when I go above 80mph.

I apologize in advance for being blunt, but the lag in acceleration is simply caused because of the underpowered 4-banger engine. For such a large car, 6 cylinder engines are the only way to go.

What do you mean by lag? like you punch the gas and the car takes a sec before it accelerates? or it takse a bit longer to actually speed up?

I don't know about the Gen3, but he has a Gen6, and I have never felt "in danger" and slow in my Gen6 I4. Quite the opposite, I can drive quite aggressively in my car when I desire and overtake cars easily at freeway speeds.

I'll co-sign that.

Well he has been driving it for around 20k+ miles I assume, so he should know by now how his I4 feels, and if it all of a sudden feels slower or a weird lag, then it may be a maintenance issue over the lack of power in the I4 compared to a V6.

Could be a number of issues, possibly clean or replace air filter, maybe reset ecu by unplugged the battery or pulling fuse. Maybe the clutch is wearing out? Seems like there is a lack of throttle response, which should be more ideal at 3rd gear.

Yes...my car being a i4 has nothing to do with it? Its like saying 4bangers are ment to have acceleration lag when you hit 20k miles? It was driving just fine, and I am very used to my car. Thats why something so little of change affects me, but I dont know what it couuld be. I pumped a higher octane gas it and helped a little i guess? lol wierd but yeah. Imma check out the site, thanks guys

Get the TSB done.

I have the same car and had the same problem, after the TSB was done i noticed better throttle response.

BTW do your gears stick at all while you are trying to shift? Or jump out of first gear?

Hmm..they dont pop out of first, but VERY seldom from either 1 to 2 or 2 to 3 does it not go in, i gotta drop the clutch again and pop it in. It gets annoying and i HATE the feeling of driving stick in my camry. Its just not the stable, smooth, secure shifting you get off another car...Good thing Toyota doesnt even make MT camrys anymore. WHat do I tell them? It should be free under warranty right?
