Gen6 Installed AVN6620 on a non-JBL,non-nav...problem with vehicle speed sensor

Ok, so I just finished installing my AVN6620 on my Camry. It came with the Parrot BT kit also. Everything works fine, including the DVD playing while in motion, except for the speed sensor. All my searches in the forum led to this post:

speed sense wire?

I also read from another post that the purple wire that is on the OEM 10-pin wire harness is the VSS. So knowing that, I used the included connector and spliced the purple wire. But to no avail.

For those running on aftermarket navigation, how and where did you find the VSS? Also, my check engine light went on. Any reason why? The batter was unplugged during the installation.

Here are some pics of my set up:

Here is the 10-pin OEM harness, where I found the solid purple color that's supposed to be the vehicle speed sensor:

And here's the purple connector spliced with the purple with white dash that'll connect to the HU:

In this picture, on the middle of it you will see a red wire with black stripes that leads to the bolt. That is where I grounded the parking wire so my passenger's able to watch while I drive:

Here's the final set up:

Anyway, I decided to remove the speed sensor wire from the HU for the time being. But any help regarding its location will be helpful.

Wrong wire. You want the purple/silver wire on the steering wheel control harness (upper right in your 3rd picture.)

Thanks jil544 for your input.

Redline, I paid $600 for everything shipped, brand new and from a reputable online store.

Just an update and for those wanting an Eclipse AVN6620 in the future:

I finally got it to work. After following Jil544's instruction to tap the purple wire with silver dashes, it still did not work!

Here's the trick!

You HAVE to cut the speed sensor wire from the connector first, then tap it! Otherwise, if you leave it intact and plug the connector to the head unit, it will stay grounded and the HU will be unable to read the speed.

And to those curious, I got it from Sonic Electronix store. They have a website and are based in Valencia, CA. If you live nearby, you can pick up the item. I was going for the AVN5510 because of the deal they had, but were OOS at the time, so they offered to upgrade me to the next one, which is the 6620, along with the necessary install PLUS the Bluetooth module.

Do the steering wheel controls work for the eclipse? Also will the factory xm plug into this unit if you have it?

Question for you guys. I have a 09 SE w/JBL and just installed my AVN6620. Which wire do I use to control the day/night illumination of the 6620? I SEARCHed but didn't come up with any thing. Thanks.
