07 Camry - NOISY BLOWER MOTOR (motor brushes)

As luck would have it, my 07 Camry SE just turned 36,500 K miles when my heater blower motor decided to get noisy. Its not that loud, but it is noticeable at all speeds. Its making a buzzing type noise.. SUCKS because I'm sure it would have been covered under warranty, but now i'm just SOL..

I took it out and examined it and it looks like the brushes for the motor seemed to have wore out prematurely and I can see the buildup of dust surrounding the inside of the plastic blades..

I'm wondering if these brushes are serviceable parts or would I have to buy a replacement motor. The metal housing for the motor seems to be clamped together, but if i split the clamped parts, I"m afraid I won't be able to get them back to a tight fit..

Any suggestions??

Replacement fan and motor - $103 + shipping.

Serviceable if you can find replacement brushes from Denzo or whoever made it.

Unless you have disassembled it to the point of studying the brushes, you are hardly in a position to say that the brushes are worn out. In my experience the brushes aren't going to be the problem here, but if you feel capable, tear it apart, clean out all the dust and dirt and take a hard look at the bushings on the shaft and the amount of axial play. Usually the bushings will fail long before any brush will, and if the brush fails, the motor will just not turn, not be a source of noise. If you see no obvious failure, regrease using graphite or lithium and see if it runs quietly.

Yes, just go to your dealer about it, and then call Toyota directly if the dealer won't cover it. I called Toyota and very nicely told them that I had a seat belt buckle broken (not on a Camry, but a Rav) just two months after the warranty expired. I explained that I have always had Toyotas and I love them, yada, yada, yada, and this really disappointed me.

They agreed to cover it at no cost to me.

I know i'm being lazy, but what's the 800 Toyota # that you called for this warranty work?? I just called my local dealer and gave them my story, they at least are going to look at it b4 making a decision.. Meanwhile I want to have that # on hand just incase I need to call.

And BTW, this is is my 2nd New Camry I've bought. And I was on my way to buy my 3rd Toyota when the problem came up.. So hopefully that will give me a lot of leverage in getting them to help me out.

"but what's the 800 Toyota # that you called"

It should be 1-800-331-4331.

UPDATE.. just got back from the local dealer .. Looks like they're gonna take care of it under warranty even though I was over 1500 miles.. Toyota FTW..

The service manager had one of her techs come listen to the noise too and they also confirmed that the motor bearings were going bad..

I also have a blower motor going in my 07 Camry i have yet to talk to the dealer, but I am still within warranty so there shouldn't be a problem but it’s interesting that there is another 07 SE that has a blower motor gone.

Glad to hear the good news. I'll be listening to my '07 Camry's blower motor. I had to replace my blower motor in my '99 Corolla for the same reason, but it had 70,000 miles on it. It cost me about $60 and a half hour of my time to replace it.

Yeah, i bought the car in Spring of 06.. It was one of the 1st SE's available.. I"m glad the dealership did this on Good Faith considering I didn't buy it from them. I will be sending the service manager a Christmas card/Thank you letter though..

Everything is all good now, I LOVE this car!! So much that I just went out and bought an 03 Corolla for my daily driver/beater.. Hopefully no hard feelings to the Big 3..

Whenever I turn on my heater/AC I get this squeaking noise coming from the vents. Is that the same issue as you guys are describing? Sometimes it loud other times it quiet, but its driving me nuts.

Is this something that is covered under the warranty? I bought the extended warranty so I should be good for a while.

Oh yeah I've had noises like these for over a year and a half in my Camry. It still works though. Whenever it finally dies, THEN I'll service it.

I have a 07 CE (japan built) Camry with the same problem. The motor has not quit but the noise is getting louder. I have 110K on it so I know that Toyota will not do anything for me. I was wondering if any of you had any problems with the motor just not working. I had this problem here in Florida just recently when the inside temp gets super high.

I have an '07 Camry. My motor has a high pitch noise at low speeds. I found some on ebay, but was wondering where the motor is located in the car. Can you help? Thank you!
