Is it possible for a 06 LE w\ 119k miles to have a speedometer that according to my GPS is 5 MPH faster at highway speeds than what it should be? I'm using stock everything pretty much and the previous owner babied the car good and it's well taken care of, but do all cars run that way to keep speeders under control?
Is it easy to adjust? Is it like a screw or some knob or does the computer have to be talked to? And if I have the dealer look at it will I be raped out the butt to fix it? Or can Autozone help me?
i think if anything, the gps is the one that is off, not the car. The car monitors the cars speed directly while the gps just uses triangulation to estimate your speed... and really, who cares lol.. by the time you look at your speedo, your gps speed may change..
it's easier to tell on hwys, i always set the cruise control..and it stays the same speed for quite sometimee..and it's only 1mph off..usually on the slower side(the gps)..so no worries...
Yet another useless "My speedo is off" thread..............
Get out of my thread if you aren't gonna be helpful. I asked a couple honest questions.

This is what I do but I set it to 80 and it does 75 on my GPS.
new tires vs old tires could causes 5 mph off. Make sure your tires are inflated properly. Also the GPS doesn't account for inclines. For example at 90 degree incline (straight up), you could be going 100 MPH and your GPS will say 0

i don't believe you can adjust the speedo calibration without going to the dealer... and it probably is not worth the cost. you might as well just live with it, its pretty much a normal thing. my family has three cars in the toyota family, '98 sienna, '01 rx300, '05 camry, and all read 3 mph slower than indicated by "your speed" trap signs and gps.

More useful than the threads started by the lazy or noobs that repeat every 4 or 5 months with the same answers...............
That's not changing any time soon being that it's the way forums have always been (there will always be vets and "noobs"), so why waste so much time being negative, looking like a bitter old man suffering from ED in the process?

But hey, it's just the internet, right?
you're right, there will be vets and noobs.. why waste time trying to change the vets? There will also be vets who get annoyed of the same old questions every month.

lol He seems to be annoyed at everything, that's why I figured I'd ask. I'm not trying to change anything, just inquiring. A constant condescending tone is more annoying than any post from a noob.
