Gen6 Kenwood DNX8120 Project

So, I'll be starting my Kenwood DNX8120 Double-Din install tomorrow. I have a '07 Camry SE with JBL system.

I have the following:
Kenwood DNX8120
Kenwood CCD-2000 Rear View Camera
Kenwood KTC-HR200 HD Radio Tuner Box
Kenwood KCA-iP300V iPod Cable
Axxess TYTO-01 JBL Amp Bypass
PAC SWI-JACK Steering Wheel Interface

I also do have the dash kit and the wiring harness necessary for the Gen6.

Any tips before I begin? Like specific things for the Kenwood unit, or just for installing aftermarket head units on the Gen6's in general. Tips on mounting the rear view camera maybe?

I'm pretty sure that it would be best to put the HD Radio Box in the glove compartment, as another member has done so before.

Hope this turns out well, and I'll try to post pictures as updates. Planning to get it done in a day.

Should be able to get it done within the day.

Hardest part for me was to program the pac. Shit took forever!

Man I need to get me a PAC unit, shits useful lol. Also I have a 07 camry MT, iono if yours is different when taking apart panels, but when you take off your shift knob you should put a towel over it, so it doesnt scratch anything (dashkit, headunit etc..)...During my first install I made that mistake and scratched my dashkit! Goodluck.

So.

Everything works great, except for the PAC Audio Steering wheel interface adaptor. I'm using the resistors that came with the adaptor, should I use higher ohm adaptors, or are the ones included enough?

For some reason, the adaptor powers on and everything, but when I try to program the steering wheel buttons, it doesn't work on the head unit itself. I've tried both the volume and seek bottoms. Any ideas?

Okay, so I do apologize for not putting up pictures right away, didn't quite have time.

Everything went well, backup camera, HD Radio, iPod connectors. The only thing we couldn't get was the SWI-Jack, we got as far as programming and it wouldn't program correctly, so we just gave up and felt it didn't matter much. Total install, probably took 6-7 hours, everything is soldered and wrapped. The SWI-JACK took forever to hook up, odd little box.

I wired the backup camera to AV Input 1, so I can run the backup camera while driving, just for kicks, I just gotta get a diode and a relay to run it so it can be powered at a flip of a switch.

GPS is very accurate, very simple Garmin interface.

DVD playback is pretty quick, good quality, can't complain, we drained the battery a few time just sitting and watching it to test it, thinking of getting a YellowTop or an a second battery now.

Backup camera is very wide, picture look's somewhat fisheyed, but that's atypical. Better quality backup camera then the in on my '05 RX330.

HD Radio is very good, much better bass response then just FM reception.

The head unit reads iPod well, quick and easy.

Overall, interface is pretty quick, haven't used it enough to be able to tell the difference.

But here:

Thanks! The only complaint is the finish of the Metra dash kit, not perfect, but it's okay for now, if I ever take the dash apart again, I'll probably replace the Metra kit with either a new one or if another company releases a new dash double din kit.

Everything was just bought off various online retailers, definitely cost over $1,000 in parts though. I just googled parts and looked off retailers off pricegrabber.com, amazon.com, and just google shopping comparisons. Some ebay parts for the adapters and stuff. I saved tons load by doing the install with a buddy and myself, With the camry wiring diagram in hand, everything went fairly well.
