Australia Oxy Sensor test

Having some rough idle issues in a 2002 2az-fe on both LPG and petrol.

I've been testing various sensors using the Camry Manual and found a problem with the 02 sensor in the exhaust just out from the manifold.

The manual states I should be getting a resistance reading of 11-16 Ohms at 20C 68F across pins 1 and 2. I get nothing. I've checked all pins and they show no continuity.

Has anyone tested the O2 sensor before and confirm this to be the case?

I'm not doubting the manual, rather my testing methods.

Thanks

If a heated sensor, checking the heater filament should produce some reading or the filament is open.

If so, this should eventually trigger the check engine light.

Thanks,

That's what I thought was strange as there is no engine light. I took the car for a 15 min drive last night to warm up the sensor but i still get no reading between pins 1 and 2.

I'm stumped, the oxy sensor isn't behaving as the manual describes but there is no engine light to indicate a fault with it.

The car may need to be driven on more then one trip for the computer to set the code.

The spec should be 0.9 to 1.2 ohm at 20C.

OK Thanks.

So oxy sensor cold, unplug it and test terminals?

That's what I've done and either very high resistance or open circuit.

Yep, but remember it is less than two ohms. Are you sure that your meter is functioning properly?

I'd just replace it and see. They're not that expensive and they don't last all *that* long. But do check your meter by touching the probes together in ohms (should give 0.3-0.4 ohms).
