alarm at bestbuy?

hey guys, getting an alarm for sure this friday of saturday. can i get sum opinions? we get the pennysaver ads and theres alarm systems under $100 at some car audio place, it just says alarm and free installation and it shows a pic haha, should i go check out what they have? or dont bother and get a viper system around $250 i found on bestbuys website and have the geek squad install it. theres a $150 and a $250 one i found and i like the 250 one.what would you guys recommend me doing? i want a clean install and the first thing i think of about a car shop is that they'll just hurry with the install and use tape and drill bits and rip things apart, where as best buy gives me the impression they know more on what to do because theyre a bigger company, but i heard storys theyre lazy sometimes and basically just toss in the system stupidly. opinions?

lammmmeee.. guess as in they will tap into a wire with those T taps and if it doesnt work they will just put electrical tape over it and move to the next wire? yea see thats why i need sum opinions lol. does car alarm involve cutting and soldering? or is it like harnesses with plugs and adapters? i want the cleanest solution, im a b*tch i know but i try and keep things clean haha. how hard do think it is to install it myself?

go to best buy..talk to the installers. they dont guess. they have the diagrams to cars, and multimeters. they may be young guys n gals but they know their shiz. most of them do... go in with the knowledge and put theirs to the test. thats the best way to judge who is worthy of working on your car.

Mine came from the factory with an immobilizer and alarm.....

Never have considered even adding the Toyota glass breakage sensor.

If the installers haven't done 5 or more Camrys successfully with the exact system that you decide on, I would run for the exit.

Get references, call the Camry owners..............

I've seen some of the shoddy installs of car stereos that roll out of Best Buy's shops and they are absolutely ridiculous. They use wire nuts, simply just twist wires together and (if you're lucky) tape them over, or some of the competent installers actually crimp wires. A stereo is much less complicated to install in just about any car as compared to an alarm, especially since all they do is match colored wires on two wiring harnesses and somehow connect them to install a stereo. With an alarm, they'd have to find the correct wire by reading a wiring diagram (which I submit is not easy for even the average MECP person to figure out), tap into that wire properly and safely, and then move on to the next wire, all the while hiding the brain of the alarm in the dash so it can't be disarmed easily. Long story short, I wouldn't trust the teenage installers at Best Buy to install the car charger for my cell phone in my cigarette lighter socket. About how I feel about Wal-Mart auto techs changing my oil...

A quality car audio and alarm shop should be able to get you a good price on a quality alarm and help you pick out the right alarm, AND they'll actually know how to install it properly. They should use either good crimps or solder the joints and use heatshrink to safely cover the joints. Meyer Emco or Tweeter are companies that comes to mind, albeit they might not be the least expensive.

should i straight up ask the guys at bestbuy how they install it and if they solder and heat shrink the wire? if they have diagrams and what not? see idk who to trust now bestbuy or sum little car shop next to a walgreens... where would the brain usually be mounted? like right behind the stereo? i would be soooo mad if they even get 1 scratch on the silver paint in the dash :ahhhh:o an thank you for your reply lol

Factory is not an alarm, if it doesn't go off when the door is forced open, then it's not alarm, it's keyless entry.
