Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
over the last couple of weeks, a popping noise has devloped in the driver seat during medium-hard braking and sharp corners. it only did it for the hardest of things before, but it happens more and more often now. it sounds like its coming from the side closest to the center console. any ideas on what it could be? i dont need my seat to adjust itself while im driving...that would most likely end badly

i drove it today and to be more specific the noise appears to be coming fom where the back of he seat meets the bottom. also i felt a slight jerk in the seat when it happened.

Same thing has been happening to me, and strangely, the timeframe is about the same (maybe 3 weeks).
It's so infrequent though, I haven't been able to determine anything, so an explanation to the dealer would be difficult (so I was gonna wait until I had a better idea of what's up). Thanks to you, I think I now have that better idea.
I brought the car to the dealer yesterday. The tech tightened the bolts/nuts/other for the seat. He said there was very little movement when he tightened them.
Unfortunately, that didn't fix the issue. T'was still there today.
The service guy said that after trying many other Camrys with manual seats they all had some play around the hinge. He said that aside from changing the entire seat there is nothing else they can try and that realistically won't fix the problem.
The seat was completely removed and replaced during the figuring out process.
ok cool. thanks man. did yours seem to end up adjusted farther back than it had been originally? it might have just been my imagination, but it was almost like after it popped for awhile the seat had adjusted itseld backward. but if the dealer said there isnt anything they can do then i wont bother going i dont think. but thanks for checkin that out and reporting your findings

My seat has a noise when you sit down into it hard . All the new camrys on the lot have the same thing. I dont know if this is what you are talking about but its the only seat noise complaint customers explained/showed to me that I know of.
