5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Apparently K&N is very reliable, but the pricings up in the air. However, assuming its around the same price as Fujita, I can afford both. Cold-Air Intakes are sweet here in California where rain and moisture isn't a problem.
Im leaning towards Fujita just because they look a bit more sporty but in the end, is there a difference? Has anyone had experience with any of these brands before? What should I expect?
the K&N is a SRI (short ram air) and will be easier to install. The Fujita is a CAI (cold air intake) and needs to be routed behind the front bumper. And when ever you need to clean the filter, the bumper will have to come off. I personally would go with the K&N because its easier to install and maintain

I've got the K&N short ram, definitely easier to install and clean and such, comes with a nice heatshield that fits in very nicely. Once you remove the lower resonator, it'll give a good amount of air into the intake. But then again, both brands are pretty well-known in terms of intake. Most intakes for our cars are more sound beneifical then actual power, it may be a small amount of power, as listed by K&N's dyno listings.

You can save $250 and stick with the one already on your car. Works just as well as any under-the-hood ornament i.e. a K&N or Fujita (although you get a free NOS energy drink with a purchase of a Fujita...score!).
My stock intake system with a $30 TRD filter is just as good as any useless aftermarket intake "system".

x2.
I had K&N Short ram for my i4 Camry for about a year. I recently sold it because it was actually too loud for my tastes. Performance gains are minimal at best. If you think paying 250 bucks is justifiable for a nice throaty rumbling sound then by all means purchase it.
does getting an intake much less void any warranties i might have?
i think i have the 50k miles one.
You should buy one and find out for yourself if it does indeed void your warranty. No use in asking because you'll get 5 different answers, none of them correct.
just to throw in my 2 cents...
i just use a drop-in k&n filter and i like it. it's easy to clean, and the power gains (as some have already mentioned) are just about the same as the other options - minimal at best. I just like having a washable and reusable filter instead of throwing away filters every so often.
Ive got the fujita, so far I havent had a problem and the filter looks pretty clean, only washed it once since installing it. Do a search, I posted all about it

I have used the K&N FIPK's in a GM pick up and SUV. Have had it installed for over 7 years with no problems as far as fit and finish or durability. Have not had the vehicle on a dyno to verify any hp gains. I have used their drop in filters with no issues as well.
K&N claims 11hp for the camry v-6 application.
