i got my alarm

i got a viper 350hv yesterday.. looks like a decent product, when i kick the wheels, the alarm gives me a warning, which i like... but i the installation was piss poor... they scratched the paint under the plastic door sill, BOTH side, idk why he took a look under the other door sill.. when they took off the panel under the steering wheel, it was still connected by sum wires and left dangling, so the panel left a scratch mark on the plastic near that opening to the left of the compartment on the dash.. pissed... i checked how they mounted the brains of the system, they just ziptied the box to sum thick bundkle of cables.. which i guess it later slid down and the brake pedal assembly was scraping against the viper computer box... i cant tell if they used wire nuts or just twist and tape the connections either.. and theres this unnessesary hole drilled for the valet switch that they didnt even use, they drilled another hole and used that and now i have a hole on the small panel near the parking foot brake.. i have sum concerns tho

1. should i take it to another shop and have them redo my connections? i guess basic install really did mean basic install....

2. is the computer of the system supose to be mounted to a solid surface? these doofus's just zipzied one bolt hole to a bundle of cables.

3. where should the siren be mounted? he said he couldnt find room but only next to my battery and headlight housing...

4. the sensitivity seems to be going back and forth when i tried sliding the computer up more into the steering column.. one moment, i'll tap the rear wheel with a good bump, i'll get a warning... one moment, i'll have to try couple times to get a warning. the trunk also, like yesterday if i dropped my fist on the trunk. it chirps, just now, i gotta like bang on it to get a chirp, the sensitivity is set to max.. would me moving the wires around cause the sensitivity jump around even when the sentivity knob hasnt been touched?

all in all.....:h eadbang:

that shop is an authorized viper dealer right? you should go on their website to check to see if they are an authorized dealer/installer.

that being said, what's their warranty like? go back there and tell them that you're not satisfied with the settings and install.

You should be able to go back with any problems...the shop I told you about, he said come back if anythings wrong. Need any adjustments with sensitivity then just come back. My install was very clean, got the same Alarm system as well. I got mine for $169

Just because they sell HIDs, amps, sound system, means they're legit? They can do all that stuff but if they dont know how to install an alarm system, it means nothing.

Oh yes! Another car with an annoying alarm with a shock sensor that goes off each time a truck goes by and vibrates the car a bit. My neighbor has one- the damn thing goes off each time a snow plow goes by.

Seriously, if they did a crappy install... take it back. Make it a lesson learned- make sure you do your research before handing your investment over to a shop.

I really don't understand the point of car alarms. People don't pay any attention to them. Even if it was parked outside your own home- by the time you'd get outside- the perp would be long gone anyway. It's much easier just to make sure to keep all valuables out of sight.

point of alarm is not to alarm you, its to alarm the person breaking in. Scares them off or just simply tells them to stay away. Some people dont giva shit about alarms but alot stay away.

The OP started a different thread asking about what alarm systems and installation shop tips he should be looking for. He said he was concerned about a neat and correct installation.

He ignored the advice in that thread and picked a shop that sold a lot of accessories.

He now has this thread about his problems.

HA!!!

Maybe a 3rd thread on his fixes or further problems ahead.............
