5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Recently my 07 LE started to feel sluggish here and there after i stop at a light or stop sign. There were times when I accelerated the car took 3-4 seconds to respond. I already got the hesitation done a couple of months ago. SO I just took it to the dealer today and he calls me back an hour later telling me that "rats bit through your speed sensor wires" or whatever it was. I was like WTF?? He tells me that the cold weather makes my warm engine a nice place for rats to live in. So he tells me they were near or under my intake and started nawing at my wires.. and bam here are the pics.. he said its not under Warranty, can someone let me know if it is covered or not?
Thanks!
Please if anyone knows about the warranty issue please advise. Thanks!

ughhhhhhhh thanks guys, well i just picked up my car.
Total Cost:
Labor Hours: 3 @ $93/hr
Parts: Terminal. Repair
Total Invoice: $316
Also, do you guys know if they checked the car for the problems and I decided NOT to fix the problem, would I still be liable for the diagnostic fee?
Sorry bro but you must be retarded or something. If they "diagnosed" a problem and you decide not to fix it why on earth do you think you wouldnt have to pay for the diagnostic? If they did something on there own without asking for your permission then I wouldnt pay for it but if you asked for the service why would you not be liable for payment? Dealers usually waive the fee if you decide to get the problem fixed as an insentive for the customer but not the other way around. $316 for that repair aint so bad, if I were the service manager I wouldve charged you $500, person like you would probably pay it no questions asked.

The same exact thing happened to me except that it was squirrels. They chewed my washer fluid bottle and engine temp sensor costing me $300. I assumed it was a freak accident. Then two week later my airbag light came on and they chewed more wires in my engine bay costing me $500. The tech found two dead baby squirrels and filled a garbage can full of leaves/tigs. It seems kind of drastic by the tech soldered chicken wire over the large gaps under the car leading to the engine.
I filed a claim with my car insurance company and they covered both bills. My premiums did not go up, FYI I have Amica.
"I filed a claim with my car insurance company and they covered both bills"
Camry82 is correct. This should be covered under the comprehensive portion of your auto insurance policy, less your deductible. It will not effect your premium. Call your insurance carrier and talk to them.
I'm under my hood almost every day. I always check all of my fluids. Plus my engine bay is spotless after 11,000 miles because i clean it once a week. Just check under there more often. Had you looked under there more this may never have happened.
