Hello, I'm new to this board but have been on 6gc.net for the past 5 years for my Celica, I am proud to say I have grown up and got an 07 Camry!
Question one is my used Camry SE came with the Jbl speaker option which sounds great, but the left rear speaker sounds blown, is it possible to replace this with an aftermarket 6x9 or should this be covered under my warranty?
Question two, is there anything special I have to do to add subs? Are they just plug and play with out any problems?
You CANNOT fit a standard 6x9 speaker in the back without using brackets. And secondly, the rear speakers are coaxial.
You need to splice off the rear speakers for a sub signal. Your blown speaker should be covered under warranty.
I had my front right speaker replaced under warranty 2 weeks ago and apparently that's a $230 item. Therefore I can only imagine what the dealer will want for the rear coax ones.

If it's less than 36K miles than it's covered under warranty. Mine too is blown on that same speaker. One of my passenger notice it and I got them to check it at 35K.. they had to order it and replaced.

Reason: thanks to Fobanginvtek pointing it out that it's 36k

They told me without the warranty it would run around $700. And the labor too would be extreme cause they had to take out the seat.
As far as I can tell the only "specialty" on the rear speakers is that you need shallow mount 6x9 (2 way coax) so that they do not interfere with your trunk mechanics. Look into Boston Acoustic SL95 - nice, very shallow and 3 way coax, very good sound quality. I just got a pair for $150 (MSRP is $300).
Front door speakers are woofers only and quoted costs is not comparable. Be careful with the low end 6x9's ...they want sound good compared to the OEM JBL.
If it's less than 32K miles than it's covered under warranty. Mine too is blown on that same speaker. One of my passenger notice it and I got them to check it at 31K.. they had to order it and replaced.
thought it was 36k?

If you don't get it under warranty, don't even waste your time with it, its just a rear coaxial, you can replace it with anything. just worry about the fronts. I don't have the JBL option, but my speakers all around are 6x9's, (very front two by the windshield are 2.6'' i think). If you want subs youll need a number of things.....what sub are you planning on getting?

That was based on my past experinces with premium sound sytems, my Celica had a factory installed amp that needed to be removed before subs could be put in and a friends RSX with the Bose system was told he could'nt have any sub but the Bose one it came with. On top of that this is a new car for me and I wanna avoid any unforseen damages i could do to it.

Hmm i dont think thats true, my friend has a lexus and has a factory Bose system with a factory amp (under the driver seat i believe) and he can add subs, also you CAN add subs to a Bose system...Do a clean install, remember connections are very important...go for copper, and make sure the wire is actually thick not the rubber surrounding. Seperate RCA's and power wire on passenger and driver side when running it through your car

Cool thanks for the tips guys, I have another question and didn't want to create another thread.
I believe my Bluetooth mic is broken. I hit the talk button and it says "welcome to the hands free system please record the name of the phone" at this point I can scream as loud as I want right into the mic and it will continuously say "pardon?" What are my options?

Thanks again for all the help!
The mic is located in the front roof console where your front reading lamps are, sunglasses holder and sunroof controls. That thing would need to be replaced. Again, it should be warranty work.

You don't have to yell, just speak clearly.
It must hear you if it says pardon, it just doesn't comprehend what you are saying. Have someone else try...........
