5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Now that Ford announce that the new Hybrid Fusion will get much better MPG than the hybrid Camry. Do you think Toyota will move up the Gen 7 release date? We know Nissan has a Hybrid in the works and Honda has a Diesel Accord coming out soon.
Normally we wouldent see the Gen 7 until 2011, but the only thing that is sellling is fuel efficient cars. And that is still a long time away
What do you think?
I see no reason to. Camry Hybrids are selling very well as is. Ford is rushing out to release a hybrid because of their financial situation similar to that of GM/Chrysler. So Ford releasing a hybrid shouldnt have an effect on the Camry.
But his point was that since Ford was running after Toyota or any company with Hybrids, that they should release a new one ahead of scheduled time just because a competitor is releasing a hybrid.

I was referring to Kennyel_2003, not the original poster.
^^^ wow guys. You're like women. Anyways I dont think Toyota will or should come with a GEN7 Camry Hybrid sooner than scheduled. The current hybrid is selling well, so theres no need to panic over ford or anyone else.
