5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Headlights have been kicked around ad nauseum but this is a new angle to an old question. Nokya makes an 80 watt bulb that is just plug and play. 80 watts @14 volts is 5.71 amps. The 55 watt bulb @ 14 volts is 3.92 amps. I can't image that a 2 amp difference would cause a problem, however I seem to recall prior issues with guys plugging HID bulbs into existing harnesses and melting them down. Really not in the mood for this, but a slightly brighter headlight would help a bit these aging eyes. Anyone with experience with these bulbs?

I had the Nokya 80W 2500K bulbs in my low beams for a week because I was experiencing some HID issues last year. When I went to my mechanic a week later and he swapped them out, he showed me how they were scorching hot. I was "THIS" close to having them physically stick to the harness plug.
Anyway...long story short, if you're going that route (which isn't a bad one necessarily), please use a separate relay harness.

i'm currently using 2500k nokya's in my fogs. long story short, i ended up upgrading the harness for my fogs to a heavy duty one made by luminics after one year. i plan to do the same for my low beams..

x2 i have 9005 modded nokyas and they burnt up my OEM fog harnesses. I purchased their high temp wire harnesses from ebay, spliced them in and never looked back
