5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My choices would be: Sienna, Odyssey. Thats it, no other van.
Before getting the camry we were actually going to get a van before deciding on the camry. The sienna vs the odyssey. This was then the sienna got the new 3.5 vs its old 3.3L. It would've been the sienna hands down. The odyssey was a little meh for us. We really liked the new 3.5L and the smoothness of the toyota tranny along with the feature of the van. The odyssey was okay but we were leaning more towards the sienna anyways and when we went to the dealership the sales people were a huge turn off. Telling us the honda 3.5 is better than the 3.3 sienna engine and than telling us we didnt know what we were talking about when we told them it actually has a 3.5. Yea honda salesmans can be such jerks and they really think a honda is the most reliable car in the world. Maybe back then the civic and accord motors were built nice and strong to last a long time but now-a-days their engines aren't the same as back then.

So yeah toyota ftw!
If the sales rep/dealer is rude, go elsewhere no matter how many times you bought the car from them. Once they treat you like that, they leave a sour taste in your mouth. It should not also hinder your decision on what car to buy. If both a Honda and Toyota dealership were rude to me, that wouldnt make me go by a Hyundai or Kia. I would go to a different dealership.
I'm buying the vehicle that fits my needs and to my likings. I'm not buying the dealership or the monkey reps. I'm only working out a deal with them.
Yes, Sienna first IF I ever had to buy a minivan. If you believe Consumer Reports, the Sienna is more reliable than the Honda Oddy. Also, Honda the reliability of Honda automatic trannys would be a concern to me, based on their history.
You want to mod a minivan?! LOL so you want to join the club of angry dads which drive their minivans like racecars attempting silly maneuvers in the right lane? LOL
You know what a minivan with a body kit looks like? A hearse.

id go with the sienna XLE w/ leather...no need for the fancy awd system and useless (and pricey) runflat tires
its a shame they dont sell the previa/estima here anymore...i loved the previa and even the old toyota VAN....they were just so out there you couldent help but like them...i mean the previa was a family hauler with avalible 5 speed manual, supercharger, 4WD, and options like dual sunroofs and a drink cooler...

Dude, I'm in no hurry. I like to drive slow and low and with style. The Dodge magnum looks more-so like a hearse than the minivans.
My parents owned a 1999 Honda Odyssey. Purchased brand new +/- $30k
At 98,000 miles tranny goes out (van was 4 years old at the time, was warranted till 100k)-- honda says sorry and tells us they will put in a brand new transmission.. Thanks Honda!
Go on a trip from WI to TX -- at 104,000 miles and tranny starts limping, barely moving the car. Limp it to the Honda dealer near our destination (luckily went out when we got off the highway). Engine free revs to 3k than slowly accelerates??
We were forced to purchase a new vehicle to get back home.. Honda will only give us $3k for the van and parents bought a new Accord (proven) in TX.
Dad calls honda not happy.. turns out honda just "rebuilt" the tranny to get us through the warranty. It dumped out on us shortly after warranty. So much for "putting in a new one"! Honda says you are on your own buddy.
Cost my parents $27k to drive the vehicle 104,000 miles-- almost 26 cents a mile just in owning the vehicle!
