5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So I got my 2009 Camry SE V6 at the end of July. Put $10,500 deposit and financed $20,100 through Toyota with 2.9%/36months. I have now paid off my car completely within 6 months. Car is no longer owned by Toyota. This is my first big purchase and paid it off. Not to mention, I didnt need to have a co-signer. I had a $35,000 college loan that I also paid off in 1.5 years.
Now that I look at it, the money I paid off my college and car loan, I could of put that towards a down payment on a house. For a person my age compared to friends and other people around my age, I think I've done pretty well. I know people who are in their 30's-40's who still owe college loan and in debt.
Now that the car is paid off, time to start saving for more important things..engagement ring, wedding, house. Just wanted to share my excitement. I actually wanted to get the car in November/December and pay the car in full but decided to build up on some credit.
Anyone else pay off their car and how long did it take you?
congrats I still own $20000 just got my last july for $28000 to bad I havent be working for 5 months
cuz I should got done by now but well lets see what happen
The order is backwards . Get a house in YOUR name, then worry about the marriage thing.......whats the hurry?
HAHAHA...people keep question when I'm going to pop the question. Plus, I wouldnt have enough money for a house anyways (I dont like to rent either). Living in NY isnt cheap to begin with. Plus gfs grandma is getting to that age so I think I would want her to be able to enjoy and be part of it considering my gf is the only granddaughter on that side of the family.
But if I had the money, I would get a house first so we have a place to live.

Definitely no more mods now that you have to save for the ring, wedding and house! She knows that now too!
Thanks. She was nice enough to let me do whatever to the car and even helped. But now we know what is more important now. Thats why I paid off car and college loan first. The 2.9% on the car isnt bad as I was only charged about $200-250 total for the 6 months. The SJU college loan was a killer, Citibank and government loan was about 7.5-8.75% interest.

Nothing wrong with living at home with the parents while saving money up at the same time. And when I start a family, I dont have to go far to get a babysitter. HAHAHA.
My business is my gaming website and my freelance work and some ebay sales. Any money I get from that was spending money such as my mods, food, gifts for the gf, cc bills, etc. Whatever I got from my full time job, all went towards loans and any big bills.
