Gen5 In Dash navigation stereo

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1215819156310

Toyota Camry 2005

This is the item that I plan on purchasing. It cost around 650 + 100 for HD radio and 150 for installation. Th techs at best buy said the total price will be 936 not including tax.

But Circuit City has the same price for the stereo but free installation. I don't think they have the HD thingy though.

Also I plan on installing tweeters on the side panels of my door? Would you guys recommend?? They said around 80 for install

I need help on whether to install it at Best Buy or Circuit City. Best Buy seems a little expensive but at least the total goes to my reward zone lol!!

That particular line of Pioneer nav units suck. The early ones had a well documented problem of slow bootups, excessive noise, etc.

I don't know what your budget is but I would recommend Eclipse or Kenwood units. As far as installers, I would go the the place that guarantees their work. I have no idea if the two big box electronics stores do that.

I wouldn't know because I never took any one of my cars to either place for stereo work. Whatever place you can afford, I guess.

best buy is fine and you get a warranty, but it should be free when you buy a deck same as with circuit city, Ive had stuff done from both places and installs are free and warrantied if you get the items from them.

I remember back when Best Buy said if you purchased a in dash deck that cost 99 and up it is free. Now this guy says 150 for install. Also I checked on their website that it is 49.99 for install if you purchased the Geek Squad thingy. So I am kind of hesitant now to do the install at Best Buy until I know the facts.

...offers for "free install" come and go (CC is more desperate right now to get business), nothing permanent. I would go with Best Buy - they do warrant their work. I like to talk to the actual installer to decide who to choose.

Doesn't Circuit City warrant their work as well. Also I noticed Circuit City is desperate, they offering lower prices for their products such as DVD etc. I talked to the installer at Best Buy he seems to know his stuff but he is always postponing install because he gets off soon and his manager does not come back till Sunday.

Also for the Pioneer module posted, do you guys recommend that it seems like a good price but I heard it has slow boot up and all. I also plan on gettingg HD radio, is it worth it?

of course, CC also warrants their work...just check that your CC outlet is not on the list to be closed, they are downsizing heavily to survive. In theory, you can go to any other CC store for warranty, but how far is the next one for you etc.

I have seen this unit in action, pretty nice. In general, I think Pioneer is too expensive. Boot up issues is supposed to be solved with the SW upgrade. Maybe you can buy from an online discount store (with warranty) and have a local car audio shop install it (with warranty) - saves a few 100's, maybe.

the circuity city in my town is safe. They already closed the CC in my town just after 2 weeks after Grand Opening. lol They say it was a corporate decision lol.

Can you check the on the Best Buy site for the Geek Squad car deck installation? (49.99) Is that the same as the install from Best Buy techs or?? I mean they charge me 150 for install when in reality it cost 49.99

My goodness pick a place already. Or go to any one of the mom and pop stereo places that advertise in the Pennysaver.

If and when you get your headunit installed, don't bother giving us an update. No one will probably care. I've stopped 9 posts ago.
