Reuse oil filter?

I own a 2007 4-cyl Camry and I went to change the oil by myself today. However, it was impossible to get the oil filter off so I decided to replace the oil only since I had already drained it and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the darn filter off.

My question is, is it OK to reuse the filter this one time? How bad can it be? The car only has 24k miles on it....

NO IT IS NOT OK! That new oil you put in it is now just as dirty as the oil you drained. The filter keeps it clean and your filter is used up at 5000 miles.
Please take your car somewhere and have the oil changed.
IT IS NOT OK TO REUSE THE OIL FILTER! NOT EVEN ONCE.
Why could you not get it off? Just too tight? Get a filter wrench if you want to keep doing your own service but judging by your question I would strongly recomend against it.

U suppose to change oil at every 3K miles. So U should be on your 8th oil change by 24K.

And suppose to change the oil filter every 2 oil change.

If your camry is out of warranty, it is okay.
There will be marginal extra engine wear.
FYI, Honda recommends change the oil filter every other oil change and honda uses fram filter.

Your car only has 25k miles on it, you better change it for warranty purpose.

I couldn't get the filter off because it was on too tight....and NO I haven't been driving with the same filter for 24k miles...just since my last scheduled oil change.

I did go and purchase the removal tool so I have it for next time. I'll keep the old filter on for 3k miles and replace it the next time around. No sense in wasting all that oil.....plus at that point I had already drained the old oil out. I doubt the car will break but I'm sure as heck ain't gonna repeat the same mistake again....there's a first time for everything I guess.

Filter is what really keep the oil clean. Dirty filter will introduce the dirt into your new oil.

You sure?

2nd thing is that I currently drive this car in Sweden and the replacement oil cost me $125 at Toyota (no joke) so I'd rather not redrain the whole darn thing and loose all that $$...but then again its better I do...

$125 for only 4 quarts of oil?.. If you switch out the filter, just have 1 quart handy.

Mishaps do happen and I do not think that was your fault.

Go to a plumbing section of Home Depot or a plumbing supply store, Harbor Freight, etc and buy a tool that is called: basin wrench. This is a swivel hook. No oil filter can withstand it. For the price of the oil filter removal tool you can get a tool that you will use somewhere else and on practically any car.

Your car will not break down with the old filter. It will just wear out faster, so if you intend to keep your car for a long time do another oil change. This time the right way.
